That's because the Google Finance web site has been abandoned. Google
Finance is now just tab on their search page and has been severely reduced
in functionality. They've been maintaining the old site for a while, but it
was only a matter of time before it went away.
I have warned that this was going to happen.

Too bad. So is GuruFocus the best alternative now for quarterly IS and BS data?

Other than Portfolio123, I don't use the financial statements much, so I'm
not in a position to say which is best.

Hi Randy and AJ ...
I was rather concerned when I read this exchange last night.
But I'm not seeing anything different this morning than last week .... quotes still being pulled into Google Docs as before with the GoogleFinance quote fetch tool.
Was this remark targeted to other financial data formerly supplied by GF? I'm getting quote updates just fine.
Thx

Parts of Google may still be working. For now. What URL and function are
you using for the quotes?
But if I enter the old Google Finance URL in my browser here:
https://finance.google.com/finance?q=MMM
....I now get redirected to the new (limited) Google Finance:
https://www.google.com/search?q=MMM&tbm=fin

My version is:
=smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/markets/funds/FID669.CF/
","span",-1,"name=""lastPrice"""),"value=""","""",1)
Looks like their data is coming from Barchart.com:
https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/FID669.CF
So this should also work:
=smfGetBarchartPortfolioView("FID669.CF","009")
But, again, you should do one array-entered function to get all of the data
items you want with a single Internet access using that function.

If the csv doesn't have a hard return at the end, =smfGetCSVFile() will miss the last row of data.
For example, a csv file published in Google Sheet does not contain the end return, and =smfGetCSVFile won't pick up the last line of data.

Thanks for the heads up. I've made a note of that and added to a Todo list.
I should be able to just add an extra line feed at the end of the file.

Randy,
I just noticed that there is no documentation available for smfGetGuruFocusItem and smfGetGuruFocusCSVItem, although you have made available couple of samples using these two functions. Can you update the website with the parameter documentation for these two functions please?

That's mostly because the templates are the documentation of what's
available. There are really just too many fields available to list them all
in some documentation. But I could do like I did with the Portfolio View
documentations and do a very basic overview and then refer to the
templates for the list of fields available.

I am looking for documentation of just the function parameters.. This should hardly take you any time at all. The fields available can be deduced from the working templates.

Randy,
Never mind. You can ignore my prevous post and keep this at low priority. I had a look at the template once again and figured out the meaning of the function parameters. I am all set. Best.

Randy,
Working with your template sample "smfGetGuruFocusItem-Full-Template.xls" I was able to pull all the IS and BS data I need from GuruFocus, EXCEPT one - Minority Interest. This appears between 'NonCurrent Deferred Liabilities39; and 'Other Long-Term Liabilities39; in GuruFocus.
If you see your template, you will notice that you have skipped the fetch for Minority Interest. It should have appeared between Line 82 (NonCurrent Deferred Liabilities) and Line 83 (Other Long-Term Liabilities).
I thought of adding the definition for Minority Interest myself in one of the constant files (smf-elements-?.txt), but could not find the GuruFocus constants defined anywhere. Hence I got stuck at this point.
Can you help me fetch this element please?
