The add-in is free. It's more a collection of data retrieval functions than an investment application.
The two most used functions would be smfGetYahooPortfolioView() (for current quotes) and smfGetYahooHistory() (for historical quotes). There are templates on the web page for the add-in.
After that, it's primarily smfGetTagContent() to get contents between HTML tags, to extract data from the passed on source code (not from rendered pages), and RCHGetWebData(), to extract data from the raw source code of the web page.
Unfortunately, a lot of templates aren't working, because websites have taken measures to prevent something like the add-in from scraping data. For example, MorningStar, AdvFN, BarChart, ...
