*Ahmedabad, 29 January, 2012*
As many as 1393 gifts presented to Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi at
various public functions were exhibited at Ahmedabad's Ravishankar Rawal
art gallery between 27-29 January. A list of gifts that were exhibited for
auction includes 208 objects of gold and silver, 377 memento, 225 photo
frames and paintings, 154 turbans, 328 shawl etc. Sachin Tendulkar's
t-shirt was also part of the exhibition. Visitors were given a form, in
which he/she had to write a code number of particular piece, its base
value, its bid value(as per your wish), your name, address, phone number
and signature(DeshGujarat visited and filled forms for two things, a
traditional dress of Tarnetar fair and Shri Somnath's 3-d photo frame. It
was told that whether your bid was highest or not would be notified on
phone call on Monday).

Issues moving to a new computer

Hello,
I recently moved to a new computer and my spreadsheets no longer seem to be associated with the .XLA file. When I open the spreadsheet all of the formulas have been preceded with "C:\Program Files\SMF Add-In.
I'm using Excel 2010 32-bit.
Two things of note:
1) The location is identical to the location on my original computer. So even if I use find/replace to remove these entries the formulas do not work.
2) If I open the RCH_Stock_Market_Functions. xla file first and then open my spreadsheet everything works fine.
So it seems as though the XLA file need to be registered or identified in settings somewhere? I'm not sure.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. One of these spreadsheets is critical to my trading which begins first thing tomorrow morning!

The only reason you should have those paths prefixes is that EXCEL
couldn't resolve the links. If using the Find and Replace process
doesn't fix the problem, that would mean to me the add-in isn't
installed on the new machine. If you start up EXCEL and open up a new
worksheet immediately (without manually opening the XLA file), what do
you get when you enter this formula:
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version" )
When you open the XLA file first, you give it something to replace the
resolution of those links. That's basically what happens when you
install the XLA as an add-in -- when you open EXCEL, it opens all of the
installed add-ins as well.
Remember, your workbooks are NOT directly associated with the add-in.
EXCEL reconciles the locations with your installed add-in when it opens
the workbooks. It is those hard-coded location links that allows EXCEL
to resolve the links. But it can only resolve the links if the add-in is
in the same location and is installed as an add-in (or manually opened).

Hi Randy and thanks for the quick reply. It had been running so smoothly for the last year that I had forgotten some of the details.
So basically I had simply forgotten that you must enable the Add-In by going to Add-Ins/Browse and selecting the XLA file. That is what creates the link.
Everything is good now. Great Add-in BTW. I have a spreadsheet that tracks all of my trades and provides some position sizing info for option data downloaded.

There's nothing on the add-ins tab related to the SMF add-in. The SMF
add-in is primarily a collection of user-defined functions.

Hi,
I'm currently working on a sheet where I would like to use the results of RCHGetHTMLTable (among others) in a formula. One can think about pulling one row of data and directly calculating the average of the values without displaying them.
Although the function provides parameters pDim1 and pDim2, if called from within a workbook, these values will be reset by Application.Caller.Rows. Count. I'm also quite curious about the first couple of lines in the code, because for example bType will always(!) be set to 1. The intended error handling might not properly work here.
Did you ever think about passing the intended dimensions for the results of the function and forcing them to be used? An additional boolean parameter which handles the useage of Application.Caller... might already do the trick. This could also be used for some other functions which seem to be working in a similar way.
Could this be an idea for the next version of this wonderful tool?

Just pick up the beta version of the add-in from the "Works in Progress"
folder. The change you want, if it's working right, should be the first
change I made after the last official release. From the change log:
Date Routine Description 2010-08-12 RCHGetHTMLTable
Modified pDim1/pDim2 processing so the array size can be overridden
from either VBA or from the worksheet. This allows other functions like
TRANSPOSE() to manipulate the returned results correctly.
I think all of the functions that return an array of data now operate
the same way in terms of the pDim1 and pDim2 parameters.
