[ExcelVBA] Re: Using the Shell function in VBA

Derek,

Do you mean that you used that very line and it worked?

Shell (Environ("comspec") + " /c mode Com4:9600,n,8,2")
(the port # (4) is correct)

Which vers system, which Office?

Lisa,

I know batch files; I've done them, but it means having another
file to install along with the Workbook - not cool.
I make these available to other hams and many don't even have Office,
so that is already asking too much and they can't use these things.
Having to instruct them to install the .BAT file is more...take
this file, do this, then this....then you can use my wonderful creation ... some will, some will walk.

It always bugs me when other hams write software, then have complex
instructions on installing this or that DLL, to install first, second
and where to get them, instead of having: one file, copy it and use it.

Hmmmm, I just thought ... Perhaps using CreatFile to set the port parameters, then close it, then using the old "OPEN, PRINT, CLOSE" commands will work (which is what I wanna' try using).

An Italian Ham asked me to modify one of my workbooks for a European version of a radio and his Win 7 appears to have a long delaying pipeline for this I/O and I was wondering if OPEN/CLOSE might not have it.

P.S. Derek. If you haven't seen and are curious, I did
something unique for the 706G CTCSS:
