MetaStock Data

I just saved data from Yahoo to xls and converted into MetaStock data format and stored. I could open the newly created MetaStock data file with MetaStock and there were no issues.
Is there a way to simplify the process of retrieving data, storing and converting? Can you bring data in for multiple symbols at a time? Create an xls file with multiple symbols after bring the data in individually?
There is plenty of information here I'm sure. I will gladly do the digging if you can point me in the right direction as to where to look.
I have Excel 14.xxxx and when completing the above stored in "xls" as this is what MetaStock created when I used the downloader to export an existing file to excel to test out things. If there is another source or method which makes more sense please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Randy, the downloader process can be used to collect historical data, if you have a paid subscription to a data provider. I currently collect free EOD data and have collected it for the last 2 years. However I don't have data back 10 years which I would like for testing. The template you have in the files collects data once you "point" it to the right table at a site to import data but not being as proficient as excel and/or your templates as perhaps some are, it doesn't easily get the data I would like.
Once I've updated my existing data with the historical data, keeping it up to date is not particularly time consuming. I was hoping someone knew of a more efficient means to collect daily data from "free" sources. The data, if it is csv or excel format can be converted to MetaStock format with the downloader program built into MetaStock. If there is not a more efficient way, I will just have to collect the data from Yahoo, edit it as needed and merge the data into my existing files as I need them.
Thanks,
Randy Booth

Hi ,
I'm gona build excel sheet where i gona choose an index. So i can see all underlying stocks with a few ratio's (Price, P/E, BV)
Now i wonder if you now how i could get the underlying tickets without i need to typ them, So when i typ ticker "INDU" i get the dow index on the first row, with all the tickers from the dow jones avg 25 index.
Oke for just the dow i can lookup them by myself i know, but for the S&P or even harder the Russel 3000 it got way harder..
so thats the reason i ask if there is a shortcut to get the tickers all in one.

I would suggest using a good screening tool, such as StockScreen123.com.

Either way, it's a multi-step process. You won't be able to use the add-in
(and shouldn't use the add-in) to get custom data beyond what is available
from RCHGetYahooQuotes(), and that data won't be sortable without
additional steps to remove the array-entered formulas.
IMO, it would be easier to do the screen and export the data.

London Stock Exchange - historical EPS data?
Posted by: "kenyondj@ymail.com" kenyondj@ymail.com kenyondj@ymail.com

Hi
Thanks for a great Add-in!
I'm trying to build a worksheet with historical EPS data (the last 8 quarterlies and the last 4 annual).
I can do this using the smfGetADVFNElement function for US based stocks. I'm more interested in stocks listed on the London Exchange. From having a quick play on the ADVFN website I can't find UK stocks.
Is there a way to download the UK EPS data?
Thanks again!

I think you just have to use the appropriate prefix on the ticker symbols
for London stocks on AdvFN.
