I downloaded your file and it does not work. The .XLSM implies there should
be a macro but none is present.
I have my Excel trust settings to allow all macros.
When I change a symbol in column A nothing happens. Am I suppose to do
something?
Columns A thru G contains the values below. What are the values in row 2?
Ticker
Price
DCF EPS
d1t1
l1
e
When I create a spreadsheet I always make a worksheet name "Instructions"
where I explain what the spreadsheet does and how one should use it. The
reason I do this isn't so much to provide others the instructions but for me
when I visit it months later.
I'd love to see folks posting their work do the same. It should save lots of
question and you may find it useful when you revisit your work.
Of course, not everyone has my bad memory.
Thanks for contributing your work. We do appreciate it.

Kermit -
I didn't have any problem with it - other than I know very little about DCF.
Did you update the links? Are you running Excel 2007 or 2010?

Ron, thank you.
1. Great idea! I'll automate Column H per your most excellent suggestion and upload the new and improved spreadsheet this afternoon.
2. Good question. I'll extend the spreadsheet to support up 200 tickers, just delete the unneeded rows. There must be a better way to do this, I welcome suggestions.
3. As Randy said, there are many ways to calculate "Fair Value". I don't know how Morningstar does their calculation but some of the differences may include: Book Value (I omit it), Periods (I support 3 and can easily add more), Duration of Period (I let you decide), CAGR (I let you decide), Discount Rate (I let you decide).

I have the latest SMF Addin 7-12-12 version. I'm am on excel 2007. And all links are fine I created a tag to correct the links on each spreadsheet I download. All others work just fine. On the DCF spreadsheet Nothing happens even when I force a recalculation.

I logon to M* through the local library's Website. M* calls that "Library Premium". You can do more than with the free version, but not as much as with the Premium version.
I can't save stock screens either. I tried cutting and pasting the output from the screener into Excel. I tried to compare the names with Yahoo and/or Finviz. It was too much work.
For example:
"3M Company" is different than "3M Co", which is different from "3M Co.".
I don't know how to do a "sounds like", or mostly matches.

I see. I have just managed to save a screen (stocks = 5-stars & >= C grade in financial health). I got 59 stocks in the screen and was able to save them into a watchlist then downloaded them into excel. All worked fine, but it took too much work and I probably have to go through the process again if I want to update the list with Morningstar's stock upgrades or downgrades. I would be happy to email you the list if interested. It is better than nothing, but not exactly what I was looking for.

There is a little gotcha factor to look out for in the "annual" data presented. Annual historical data is presented based on the fiscal reporting versus calendar year. This means that any backward looking analysis of data need to adjust for those factors.

Hi Randy,
I'm trying to add a Stockcharts $NAHL chart to your excellent RCHCreateComment function as another Case statement. Seems like this should be straightforward, but I'm getting a #Value error in the cell with a standard comment. When I step through the code, execution doesn't make it past the statement:
oCell.Comment.Shape.Fill.UserPicture sURL
where sURL = "http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$NAHL&p=D&yr=0&mn=8&dy=0&id=p18090504589 "
I've tried this url in IE and it returns the proper chart.
When that line of code is executing there's a lengthy delay while stuff goes on behind the scenes before execution ends.
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
Tom

The problem is that the URL you have below is for a WEB PAGE that contains
the image. A web page could contain hundreds of images. Instead, you need
the URL of the image all by itself. In this case:
http://stockcharts.com/c-sc/sc?s=$NAHL&p=D&yr=0&mn=8&dy=0&i=p18090504589&r=1343933635050

Could you please tell me how to get the chart image rather than the webpage?
Also, the pTop and pLeft parameters are having no effect for me. Is there a trick I need to know?
Thanks.

For me, in FireFox, I just use the right mouse button to click on the
image, and then choose the "View Image" option or the "Copy Link Location"
option to get to the URL of the image.
The pTop and pLeft only apply if you have chosen to make the comment box
visible -- that's an EXCEL limitation.

Hi guys,
I know few places quote emini futures options, like ES and NQ's options. OptionsXpress is one of them.
I wonder if there is already a proven request format to get quotes of futures options?
I made some trial and errors and got all "Error". Hope that you can share your successful trials.
Thank you very much!

These appears to work fine for me:
=smfGetOptionQuotes("ES 9/22 2012 $5 Call","b",,"OX")
=smfGetOptionQuotes("NQ 9/22 2012 $5 Call","b",,"OX")
Or are you asking about something else?
