Did you ever get the problem solved?
I am currently having the same issue after I updated the latest version of RCH_Stock_Market_Funstions (2.1.2016.09.02), and have to use your tricks - checking/unchecking "Stock Market Functions Add-In" to view the data.
While it's functioning,
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
gets me
Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2016.09.02 (C:\Program Files\SMF Add-in; Windows (32-bit) NT :.00; 15.0; ; ; 1)
Then as I close and relaunch Excel, it gives me
#NAME?
Any idea?

The problem appears to be related to a MicroSoft security update released
in July.
It's not letting EXCEL load the add-in when EXCEL starts up. As a result,
you are getting link errors, because EXCEL can't resolve the links to the
add-in.
For a workaround suggested by Microsoft, until they fix the issue, see:
