I may be in the wrong group. Maybe this can be done with Excel commands only.
I download sometimes a decade's worth of quarterly financial info in spreadsheet form. The amounts are fine but the quarterly labels (ie 2008/12) are text. So the first challenge is to change the text into something excel will recognize as dates. I think I can handle that. However, I need to take the info that is all on one row and sort it by year and by quarter so all March quarters in a column, all June quarters in another and so on. That will let me determine seasonality in the numbers: for instance, if 80% of 1st quarter growth in the last decade has been negative. That would be the lull after a busy holiday season.
Might this be an easy task for a relative newcomer?
Thanks,
David
