*Sorting. If I were going to sort only on three columns, that would be
easy. A lot of my ancestors have the same name, so I thought I would
digitize the name somehow, and convert to a higher base number, say base
64. For this to work, each number needs to be convertable back to the
original name. That is the problem I am having. Sometimes a number can
convert back to two, or three names.
Before you suggest it, yes, I do have a genealogy program, it will not do
what I am trying to do unfortunately. I thought perhaps I could convert a
name like BrownJamesWilliam to *unique* digits (so I can reconvert back to
the name later), and then convert that to a higher based number, and maybe,
just maybe, I can end up with a six character code to sort on.
