[ExcelVBA] ......summarise the frequency of occurence of the squares by colour down a table

Good Evening

I have a grid of coloured cells representing planned treatments along a road, I am looking to summarise the frequency of occurence of the squares by colour along the road

I have a key of colours to refer to.....

Can this be done using Excel VBA in a manner such as described OR in a way such that the worksheet could be scanned for the colours used and a grid output on the fly? 

As you may know, I am a VBA luddite and this one has me TOTALLY stumped
