Randy are you certain Yahoo prices are adjusted for dividends? I don't think they are.

I check the yahoo price history for AGNC in 2008 & 2009 with my Worden Stockfinder and the prices agree they do not appear to be adjusted by either group.

Yup. Whether a dividend or a split, they have adjusted closing prices for all history, so that it will be compatible with all prices forward. Until the next dividend or split, the closing prices and adjusted closing prices for any given date will match.

It's one reason you can't keep adding current data to previously retrieved historical data, unless you adjust the historical data yourself. I used to do that -- it was a real pain.

Yahoo has the normal prices, but also has an adjusted closing price. The
functions mentioned here use that adjusted closing price to adjust all of
the prices.

The adjusteds works indeed.

I'm trying historicals now but walks to a little problem.
i have the date in one cell (mm-dd-yy) and for the formula i need to put in this dates separate.

I pasted yours into my spreadsheet and it worked fine

I changed ticker to a quoted symbol since I didn't have that label defined.
I also used commas as that is my custom rather than ;

Did you enter as array-formula?

I think you're best off retrieving the array of data and computing the high
from it.

If you're computing your own ratios, though, you've got another problem --
during that year, you may have a different number of shares. A split, a
buyback, additional shares released, etc. So you'd need to adjust the high
prices by the number of shares, on a daily basis, before creating your
ratio.

Oke you confinced me of not doing it this way its to much data to collect and to much risk to go wrong.

But it is oke to calculate other ratios where you don't need prices right?

I've not done all that many ratios myself, so I don't know all the
pitfalls. I've pretty much gone with the ratios that are already published.

Simply that earnings, sales, and such are reported for fiscal years.

If you want to calculate ratios you should use prices which align with the
fiscal periods.

Hey Guys,

I've been working on some research analyzing Chinese companies IPOs traded on the NASDAQ and NYSE. I've been trying to collect information from about the circumstances in which they went public.

I am trying to collect information from EDGAR OnlineIpo like share price, number of shares outstanding, offer amount etc. I have written these elements to grab the information from the page. I am having trouble making the elements 'generic' so that I can input any ticker and get the corresponding information because it seems that each URL is unique.

Does anyone have any ideas to get around this?

Thanks in advance.

Here's an example of the page I am trying to pull information form;

http://ipoportal.edgar-online.com/ipo/displayFundamentals.asp?cikid=785256&fnid=65660&IPO=1&coname=YOUKU+INC%2E

Here are the current element formulas I'm using:

19564;Evaluate;ipo share price;=RCHGetTableCell("http://ipoportal.edgar-online.com/ipo/displayFundamentals.asp?cikid=785256&fnid=65660&IPO=1&coname=YOUKU+INC%2E",1,"Share Price :");;;;;;;;;0
19565;Evaluate;ipo Shares Offered;=RCHGetTableCell("http://ipoportal.edgar-online.com/ipo/displayFundamentals.asp?cikid=785256&fnid=65660&IPO=1&coname=YOUKU+INC%2E",1,"Shares Offered");;;;;;;;;0
19566;Evaluate;ipo Offer Amount ;=RCHGetTableCell("http://ipoportal.edgar-online.com/ipo/displayFundamentals.asp?cikid=785256&fnid=65660&IPO=1&coname=YOUKU+INC%2E",1,"Offer Amount");;;;;;;;;0
19567;Evaluate;ipo Shares Outstanding ;=RCHGetTableCell("http://ipoportal.edgar-online.com/ipo/displayFundamentals.asp?cikid=785256&fnid=65660&IPO=1&coname=YOUKU+INC%2E",1,"Shares Outstanding ");;;;;;;;;0

Place a "~~~~~" string in your URL for the ticker symbol. The ticker symbol
you pass to the function will replace those give tildas. However, that is
the only substitution that can occur.

I don't think the add-in can do it. The screening parameters aren't in the
URL, so there is no bookmarkable web page for the add-in to extract the
data from.

Can you use FinViz instead (see "Links" area of group)?
