Thanks Randy..... The tone of your message says a lot...

How do people in this group exchange attachments.... Maybe your group isn't equipped to exchange posts with attachments....

I am exchanging (both receiving & uploading for others) attachments with posts on other forums.... with a lot of positive results....

Thanks again....

How are you reading this forum. Most of us use email to send/rec msgs and files. You can either post a file in the files area or simply attach to an email for all to see.

If you are doing through Gmail or Yahoo or Hotmail (Any Webmail service, you
have to click the attach button and select the file.

If you are doing through Outlook, you can either follow the above step or
copy and paste the file in the message body.

Thanks,

Sudhir

I find it easy to do an attachment, and others have done it in this Yahoo
group. It's just that the Yahoo group itself doesn't have a mechanism to
attach a file when you post a message there.

You can always upload the file to the files area and refer to it.

Problems with 10 year historical ROC

Hi Randy,

Firstly, thanks for the all your hard work, amazing support and technical skills.
I have been using your plug-in successfully for quite a few years now
(I have the latest version I belive RCH_Stock_Market_Functions-2.1.2012.02.02) but have recently started to have problems with the historic 10-year ROC% from "AdvFN-A" (references 7316 to 7325).

In its simplistic form, for Microsoft, this would be..

=RCHGetElementNumber("MSFT",7325)

No matter which company I choose, the result is always 'Error'.
Is there another source for 10-year historical ROC. ROE is the same I think from "AdvFN-A" (i.e. 7305) but I use MSN (i.e. 222) elements as a workaround.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Thanks!

Steve

I just tried element 7325 and it worked fine here. Check out the AdvFN item
in the "Links" area of the group. It may solve your problem?

Be sure to run smfForceRecalculation after changing your IE settings, to
ensure that you will get a fresh copy of the web page.

Hi Randy,

As you suspected, the issue was the setting within Internet Explorer as outlined in the post by Raver (shown below)

----------------------------------------------------------
In Internet Explorer : Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level button
(for the zone that's currently highlighted); Find the 'Access Data Sources
Across Domains' option and set to 'Enable'. Click OK to save the settings
change.
----------------------------------------------------------

This solution resolved the issue fully so many, many thanks to both of you.
Your excellent plugin is the cornerstone to my investment approach currently returning over 30% per annum for 3.5 years ...

"Earnings" source not working?

Hi,

RCHGetElementNumber is returning "Undefined" for all items from source: Earnings (1286 onwards). Is this broken?

Thanks

Sounds like you didn't unzip all of the files in the archives along with
the XLA file. The TXT files contain the element definitions. If they aren't
in the same folder as the XLA file, none of the elements will be defined.

Oh yes, that was the problem. A couple of TXT files were not present. Looks like I might have messed up while unzip'ing. Manually copied again and it works now.

Thanks for your help

Enquiry of smfGetTagContent() function

Posted by: "ericckyuen" ericckyuen@gmail.com   ericckyuen

Tue Apr 3, 2012 11:48 pm (PDT)

Hi Randy,

I am using smfGetTagContent() function to extract some figures of the following table : http://www.aastocks.com/en/Stock/CompanyFundamental.aspx?CFType=6&symbol=00941

It goes fine for +ve figures with this command. e.g. =0+smfGetTagContent("http://www.aastocks.com/en/Stock/CompanyFundamental.aspx?CFType=6&symbol=00941","td",5,"> Interest Received")

However, it needs to change (td) to (span) for -ve figures, e.g.
=0-SUBSTITUTE(smfGetTagContent("http://www.aastocks.com/en/Stock/CompanyFundamental.aspx?CFType=6&symbol=00941","span",5,"> Interest Paid"),"-","")

How can I cater for both +ve or -ve figures in the command?
I am unable to retrieve the correct figure if I do not use "td" for +ve and "span" for -ve figure correctly.

Grateful if your advice, pls.

Best Regards,

Eric

The easiest solution would be to just use RCHGetTableCell() on both. It
automatically removes HTML tags that are within the table cell.

Otherwise, you'd need to use the "td" version of smfGetTagContent() and
then use SUBSTITUTE() function to remove the <span...> and </span> portions
of the table cell.
