how do i undo this hard coding? are you saying that once you save a workbook...it is permanently locked into the location of the add-ins? that isn't cool...and it will be an incredible problem.

It is only permanent until you decide to go to the workbook and change the
location.
Think of it this way ...
When you type something like =RCHGetElementNumber("ibm",1)
Excel turns it into something resembling this:
c:\Program Files\SMF\.....ElementNumber ("ibm",1)
where c:\program... is the place you installed SMF into.
If you then take that workbook to another machine that formula will only
work if SMF is in the exact same directory.
If SMF is not in that directory, you must manually change the c:\Program
Files\SMF... (or whatever it was) to link to the location on the new machine
that SMF is.
Once you change the workbook it's fine. If you move the workbook to another
machine with yet a different directory, or you move the location of your SMF
installation, then you need to repeat the change once.

That's how EXCEL does it. But it's done EACH time you save a workbook, not
permanently. So if you resolve all your links and then save the workbook,
it will be saved with a hard-coded link to the current location of the
add-in.
When EXCEL opens a file, it checks to see if the hard-coded link is valid.
If it is, it removes the location and everything looks normal to you. If
the location is not valid, EXCEL tags it as an unresolved link -- EXCEL
doesn't know how to handle it, so you have to.

Thanks Randy. I just substituted the workaround. That one field is the only one that didn't work. I can't figure it out!
