Hello, Randy,

I want to get the financial statements data from MorningStar, use this formula, the result is error:
=RCHGetTableCell("http://financials.morningstar.com/income-statement/is.html?t=MMM",0,"Revenue","fundnum"), and
=RCHGetTableCell("http://financials.morningstar.com/income-statement/is.html?t=MMM",0,"Revenue")is not workable.

Another issue is I want to get the number in thousands, what should I do?

Thanks.

Sorry, but it's a dynamically generated page, so there's no data in the
source code of the web page to extract.

You'll have to be more specific about what problems you're having. I just
tried it with ticker symbol MMM and it's working fine here.

I have estabished, c:/Program Files/SMF Add-In/RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla

Open MS Excel & in the Add-Ins available box, tick 'Stock Mkt Functions Add-In' then Ok

Nothing refering to this Add In is shown in the Add In tab at the top.

Open SMF_Template_Yahoo_Analyst_Estimates (from different directory)

Type in MMM, and then see 'Undefined' everywhere

Have now fixed problem. thankyou.
While im here, im trying to update an Excel file with the latest revenue and EPS estimates for all companies in the Russell 2000 index. The SMF_Template-Yahoo-Analyst-Estimates file does this for 1 company. How can i most easily have 1 page per company (ie 500 pages), or maybe create 1 page with all the tickers going down ColumnA and then Revenue and EPS estimates in Columns B to .....
Thanks

Please don't do things like that with the add-in. I don't want people
abusing the free data services by downloading and maintaining databases. In
fact, the add-in has a built-in limitation of allowing only 1000 web pages
to be accessed per "session".

Besides, you can easily get something like that from the Finviz or Zacks
screeners in an single export file, instead of retrieving the data piece by
piece for each ticker symbol.

Daily and weekly historical prices for a stock

Hi Randy,

I am sure someone had asked this question before, but I could not find the answer for this code:

Could you show me how to get daily and weekly closing prices for a particular stock? I would like to go back really far: say 400 daily prices and 400 weekly prices, using either Yahoo or MSN prices.

Is this possible, Randy? Thanks so much!

Regards,

Tim

By the way, the format I am trying to see is exactly like the picture of MMM daily prices as posted on the front page of this site. Thanks!

Use the RCHGetYahooHistory() function. It can return either daily or weekly
data, and is how the front page example was created.

Hi Randy,

Is there a way for me to get prices, say from latest close and go back -200 days, without specifying the dates?

Thanks!

Just array-enter the RCHGetYahooHistory() function over 200 rows.

When you don't specify dates, it always assumes the ending date is the last
date available, and backfills the available range from there.

I almost never use dates with the RCHGetYahooHistory() function. Typically,
if I want closing prices for one or more given dates, I end up using the
smfPricesByDates() function. Even to the point I will use it for weekly and
monthly prices, instead of RCHGetYahooHistory(), because *I* can determine
when the weeks and months start/end, instead of them being the calendar
week/month default that Yahoo uses.

Hi Randy,

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but when I do the code RCHYahooHistory($C$1) and array down, I get the dates and the OPEN daily prices. Would you show me how to get Daily Close, and Weekly close?

Thanks!

Dates and adjusted closing prices on daily data:

=RCHGetYahooHistory("MMM",,,,,,,"d","DA")

Dates and adjusted closing prices on weekly data:

=RCHGetYahooHistory("MMM",,,,,,,"w","DA")

Actually, I want a couple of columns in my excel worksheet that gives the performance over the last 30 days, the last 60 days, ....etc.

Can you help me with this. Thanks, David

I typically use the smfPricesByDates() function for that type of thing.

Historical Price Data

Randy

I have two questions.

First is there a way to alter the smfPricesByDates() function so that you can obtain the open price or the volume for a given date.

Second where does the information come from for the smf earnings.com template that returns 23 weeks of earnings data.

Thanks for all your work on the various templates. I have an old version of excel and not all of them work, but the ones that do will save hours of work

You would need to alter the actual VBA code to get open prices or volumes
by date from smfPricesByDates(). However, you can get O/H/L/C/V for any
given date by specifying the date with RCHGetYahooHistory().

Earnings.com *is* the source of the data:

http://www.earnings.com/company.asp?client=cb&ticker=MMM

In most cases, you can find the URL from which an element is extracted with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("P-URL",1354)

...which returns:

http://www.earnings.com/company.asp?client=cb&ticker=~~~~~

Just substitute a ticker symbol for the "~~~~~".

Thanks
Took me a little while to get the syntax right but I can now get the additional individual quotes by date.

Both of these examples in the documentation:

=RCHGetElementNumber("IBM", 941)
=RCHGetTableCell("http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=MMM",1,"Market Cap
(intraday)")

...worked fine for me. Without more details about what you are doing, I
have no idea what you are doing wrong.
