That should be all you need to do. Unless you're using data source "OX",
which is calls only.

Can you have me an example of one that doesn't work? What results do you
get?

Randy...THANK YOU. I was able to cobble together the syntax for the remaining data from that table. Now if I may be so bold to ask for some assistance with the piece of data I was never smart enough to ever place in my spreadsheet. If you look a little further down the right hand side of the page you will notice that AFB is in a category named "Muni National Long". How do I get that data?

I tried looking at the source code for the page and searchingfor the header but I was not smart enough to find the underlying page.

Your guidance as always will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

John

Source page for that item appears to be:

http://cef.morningstar.com/cef-category?t=AFB

=RCHGetTableCell("http://cef.morningstar.com/cef-category?t=AFB",1,"<tr")

I found it by looking through the JavaScript code for "tempReqUrl ". That
appears to be how many of the various data items are loaded.

I don't have a clue what you are talking about, but my suggestion would be to go through your settings in Excel, and make sure it isn't locked down.
http://bribg.pbworks.com/w/file/50396066/Step-by-Step%20SMF%20Add-In.doc

Then reboot.

If these products work on a Mac does that also mean they are likely to
run on an iPad? I have avoided Mac products because most investing
software is Windows based.

Hello Randy,

I hv been using smf and found it extremely helpful. Thanks a lot.

Just a quick one:I would like to download the interest rate table from:
http://www.hkab.org.hk/DisplayInterestSettlementRatesAction.do?Submit=Search&lang=en&year=2012&month=11&day=20

I tried both formula below
(1) =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.hkab.org.hk/DisplayInterestSettlementRatesAction.do?Submit=Search&lang=en&year=2012&month=11&day=20",1,"2 Months")

(2) =smfGetTagContent("http://www.hkab.org.hk/DisplayInterestSettlementRatesAction.do?Submit=Search&lang=en&year=2012&month=11&day=20","td",1,"2 Month")

Both of them return "error". Could you pls help?

Thanks a lot!!!

Cheers, Laurent

I can't even access the web page. FireFox returns an error, after a long
delay (a time out?):

"The server encountered an internal error (Internal Server Error) that
prevented it from fulfilling this request."

The web page is working now...must have been a temporary issue with their
server.

Your problem is that the data is not located on that web page. It is within
a frame on that web page. So you need to use the URL of the frame. Try:

=RCHGetTableCell("
http://www.hkab.org.hk/hibor/listRates.do?lang=en&year=2012&month=11&day=20",1,"2
Months")

So, if I understand what you are saying. The RCHGetYahooQuotes() function retrieves the current quote, not the EOD quote? Also, the current quote can be updated at a user defined interval by using the smfForceRecalculation macro; whereby this will simulate a real time data stream? Please confirm.

Correct on both counts.

But RCHGetYahooQuotes() will collect EOD quotes after the market is closed.

If you want historical EOD quotes, you would use the RCHGetYahooHistory()
function.
