For one reason or another many websites from which RCH functions scrape their data choose not to use GICS Standard Sector and Industry designations. However, the publicly accessible Fidelity Investments website does use the GICS Standard Sector and Industry categories. I have used Randy's smfGetTagContent function to access this data on a reliable consistent basis.
The formulas are as follows;
GICS Sector
=smfGetTagContent("https://eresearch.fidelity.com/eresearch/evaluate/snapshot.jhtml?symbols="&A38&"","a",4,"Company Profile",,,,1)
GICS Sector
=smfGetTagContent("https://eresearch.fidelity.com/eresearch/evaluate/snapshot.jhtml?symbols="&A38&"","a",5,"Company Profile",,,,1)
In both cases cell A38 contains the symbol for which the Sector is sought
Get well soon Randy.
