Hello Randy,

A special request from morningstar.

I would like to request info on mutual funds, the 52 week highs & lows from morningstar?

I don't know how you do what you do, but if you could do this it would be very helpful info.

Thanks,
Rene

Unfortunately, it needs to be extracted from Javascript code, but I think
this will work:

=0+smfStrExtr(RCHGetWebData("
http://quote.morningstar.com/fund/f.aspx?t=vfinx","vkey:"),"_52Week:""","-")
=0+smfStrExtr(smfStrExtr(RCHGetWebData("
http://quote.morningstar.com/fund/f.aspx?t=vfinx
","vkey:"),"_52Week:""",",Min"),"-","""")

IBD data

I am having trouble getting some data elements from IBD.
Here is the formula for EPS that I am using:
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.investors.com/StockResearch/StockCheckup.aspx?symbol="&A2,1,">EPS Rating")
It used to work just fine and I still get some data elements so I don't know what is going on. It still gets the PE data fine and the %off 52 week high. But it won't grap the A/D,EPS,RS,GRS data anymore.

Thanks,
Bryan

Us the EXCEL Web Query dialog to double check to make sure you are logged
in. I just cut and pasted your formula below and used ticker MMM with it,
and it worked fine for me.

Sometimes IBD will pop up an advertising page on your first visit to the
site. If that is happening, the add-in will never get beyond that
advertising page.

Ok, total noob with this stuff. How do I use the web query. I have logged
into investors.com website with IE and like I say it will grab some of the
data. PE for example.
Thanks,
Bryan

Keyboard shortcut for EXCEL Web Query is alt+d+d+w. Then type "investors.com"
into the address bar and click "Go". If I'm logged in properly, I'll be on
their front page with it saying "Hi, Randy".

Are the items that are working coming from the "checkup" page or the "quote"
page?

Great!. I did the web query and logged in through excel. I had already
logged in via IE too. And now it works like it always did.
The items that were working were on the "quote" page and I think most if not
all that werent working was on the "stock checkup" page.

Thanks,
Bryan

Download the portfolio monitor spreadsheet that is here:

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/files/Uploads%20by%20forum%20members/Toteboard.net/

Not quite as pretty as SmartMoney's, but hopefully you'll get what you need.

Hi

I looked at the files you mentioned and they seem like a terrific set of tools,
even at first glance. I will look further when time permits.

However I noticed a bug in the Company Comparison.xls file.

It appears that Shares Outstanding (Est.) is actually the Total market cap in
dollars. To be shares outstanding it would need to be divided by the current
price.

regards

Marty

Looked through some of the posts and couldn't find anything germane to my question, which is:
Is it possible to use a Named Range in lieu of an actual stock symbol?

my Named Range would be a cell containing stock symbol.

e.g
getyahoohistory(Symbol) vs getyahoohistory("IBM")

Sure. It's a user-defined function, so it can be used pretty much the same
way as a normal function -- literal, cell reference, or named range cell.

There is a charge for the commercial version but the open source
versions are free.
