Hi Randy,

Is there an official function released to get Option quotes?

Thanks for your help.

I couldn't find any documentation for smfGetOptionQuote().  Where is it?

I use smfGetOptionQuotes() almost every day.

There is none. As I said, it's not been officially released.

Despite being an old user of SMF add-in I'm having a strange problem
after doing an update with the latest version of 2 February (certainly
for my mistake). For your reference, firstly, I have the add-in files in
the folder C: \ SMF and have Excel configured in accordance Options \
Suiplementos. As you can see from the Excel image, the formulas
RCHGetElementNumber (and others) have all "Error".Can you help identify
the possible error? I do not know what more to try ...Thanks for your
help.Rosendo José (Lisbon)

Well, it seems to be a problem of MSN (and also of Morningstar example number 877), because the references to Yahoo (example number 562) or Zacks (example number 848)work well.

What'd be wrong?

I suspect you just need the updated element definitions for MSN, since they
have changed their web page structure since the last official release of
the add-in -- see:

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/18529

Best practice:

1. Exit EXCEL
2. Download the new version of the element definition file
3. Replace the older version of this file in your add-in's file folder
with the newer downloaded version
4. Restart EXCEL

Element #877 works fine here, if I make sure to visit the Morningstar
website first with the EXCEL Web Query process or with IE (not with
FireFox). MorningStar does some advertising redirections upon the first
visit of the day, so you need to create an IE cookie so it knows you've
already visited the site that day.

Many Target Prices (t8) are yielding N/A for S&P 500 stocks.

That's what Yahoo is sending on the CSV file...

Randy,

I'm having a problem retrieving values for the Dow:-(

The formula in question is as follows:

=RCHGetYahooHistory("^DJI",YEAR(N3),MONTH(N3),DAY(N3),YEAR(N3),MONTH(N3),DAY(N3),,"A",0)

Where cell N3 contains that date I need data for. The problem is, I don't get anything back. However, if I change the symbol to, say, 'IBM' or '^GSPC' (the S&P 500), it works just fine.

Did the symbol for Dow Industrial change? Is there something else going on?

Note - this is happening in a spreadsheet that I loaded off the net - I didn't create it, and am not familiar with the various macro calls, so . . .

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Harry

Yahoo is no longer licensed to provide a CSV file of the historical DJIA
quotes...

I frequently have to go back and change my code because Yahoo changes stuff
I thought i was the only one experiencing this pain, but I think you do so also,
