Randy, thanks for that - I've been wondering if there was a logging capability. However, when I use it, I get a run-time error and when I click debug the following appears (attachment). And no file is created in my SMF Add-in folder.

You need to enable logging first, in order to create it. The default is not
to do any logging.

After that, each new Internet request should append a logging entry to the
file. Clicking on the enable option doesn't create the file, it just
toggles a switch. The first new request should create the file.

I understand. Let me clarify: I opened the file, right-clicked on a cell and chose SMF>Logging>Enable, then ran my data collection, which uses getyahooportfolioview. Then I right-clicked again and chose SMF>Logging>Open log file. It was at this point that I got a run-time error saying that the log file could not be found, and indeed it was not present in my SMF Add-in folder.

I did check to make sure write-access permission was enabled for my SMF Add-in folder. Still no joy.

At the point that smfGetYahooPortfolioView() retrieves the file from the
Internet, it should append the request information to the log file
(creating it if it doesn't already exist). If it's not working there, I'm
not sure what to tell you?

If the append wasn't working, I would think you'd get a run-time error at
that point. There's no error handling in that routine. That makes me think
it's not even attempting the append. That is, logging hasn't been enabled.

Where the process is going wrong, I couldn't say...?

How did you "run the data collection"?

Thank you Randy. I reviewed the Guru Focus website and the data that can be downloaded directly to Excel looks wonderful. Pat

I have to run Auto_Open to see the SMF context menu. The option to Enable Logging remains with a green checkmark even if I select Disable. I can open the log file, but the most recent event on it is from three years back. I can't delete the log file using Delete log file on the context menu. The net result is I can't get the log file running to see what kinds of requests the add-in is making or their duration.

Any suggestions on how to rectify this?

The symbols on Enable and Disable are fixed. They won't change as you
enable or disable logging.

I'm not sure what to suggest. The code has never been an issue here.
Logging has always worked as I expected.

There isn't any error handling in those routines, so if you were to run
into an error, it should choke and report it to you.

Is it possible you have the add-in installed in multiple locations? That
shouldn't be an issue, as it should use the active one, but...
