Best practice when updating add-in files:
1. Exit EXCEL
2. Download new file(s), replacing the old one(s)
3. Restart EXCEL
In this case, you want the smf-elements-1.txt file from the "Works in
Progress" folder of the files area of the group.

It should be in the folder on your computer where the add-in files are
located. It's a necessary file for the add-in, if you want to use the
RCHGetElementNumber() function.

The old file is in the SMF Add-In folder in your computer. You have to replace that old file with the new file (smf-elements-1.txt) from the "Work in Progress" folder.
Anyway Randy, that is what I did (exiting Excel previously) but I´m still having problems with elements 1, 2, 3 etc through 252, and 353 through 539. It keeps returning "Error".
I´ve got the latest version as of 2012-02-02

Then you definitely have a problem, because element #2 was obsoleted way
before this change was made.
What do you get with:
=smfGetAParms(2)
...it should return:
Obsolete;Obsolete;Obsolete; ;;;;;;;;0
Trying to get element #2 for any ticker symbol should return "Obsolete" --
it doesn't even get farther than pre-processing of the parameters to try
and get data from the Internet.

Well, yes... in element 2 I do get: "Obsolete" (just once).. sorry about that...I also get "Obsolete" in elements 540, 541, 544, 545, 546, 551, 552, etc... The rest of the elements seems to be working fine (they return a value, text or N/A)... So, the only problems I have is the elements were MSN is the source.
Curiously the elements were the source is MSN10, seem to be working fine.

I have problems too but its with MSN.
Each morning none of my MSN lookups work thru SMF. But, if I use IE to access money.msn.com and do a quote lookup, then for the rest of the day the SMF lookups work fine.
You must use IE as that stores the cookie used by Excel / SMF.
I think the problem has to do with the Facebook logon. I don't have one. Whenever I go to money.msn.com it says I am logged in with my MSN userid but then pops up a window asking to logon through Facebook. I just kill that window and can use msn fine without it. But, I have a feeling if I logged on that way then SMF would work each day without having to relogon.

Yes, those were all obsoleted at the beginning of 2011, when MSN did
another major overhaul.
From the change log:
2011-01-26 RCHGetElementNumber Updated the element definitions in
file smf-elements-1.txt because MSN made changes to their web pages.
-- Too many were changed to mention them all.
-- Elements #2, #541-542, #544-546, and #551-552 were obsoleted.

I use the MicroSoft DLL libraries, so both IE and EXCEL/add-in use the same
Internet engine.

Ok, I was only mentioning all of the elements that showed "error"...
In any case , specifically, I only use elements 55, 112, 115, 127, 139, 148, 151, and 13862.... When do you think the errors of those elements are going to be addressed?....or have you addressed them already and I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks again for all your time Randy.

You can get the first table with:

%",-1,"",1)
I don't see any bid prices.

Hi Randy, and thank you for your quick response. I was actually looking for the last price, high and low which they show on that page. I do not seem to get the formula below working. My add in is installed correctly under the first table, "Real time Streaming Futures Quotes". Is it possible to just exctract for example "low", US 30.
Thanks again

Should that be part of the RCH_Stock_Market_Functions. xla?

That's my person add-in and can't be distributed. Which function is being
used from it?

Aha! I was using sfJoin() instead of smfJoin(). I created smfJoin() from
sfJoin() so the add-in had the function available. I didn't realize I had
used the wrong function in the template.
I just uploaded a new copy of the template.
