That's why I gave you the examples I did -- you can still use the portfolio
"view", but you don't need to pre-define the portfolio.
And the reason I suggested using the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function is that
it can get multiple data items on up to 200 stocks in one Internet access.
But you do need to have a contract with Yahoo to get the real-time quotes.

Thanks again Randy, I will look at the getquotes function which I was going to use only with the nasdaq or nyse stocks as these seem to be realtime for free - or am I mistaken ?

Is there a reason you need to use the portfolio page? Why not RCHGetYahooQuotes()? Or something like:
=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/quotes/GOOG,AMZN ","Pct Change",-1,"",1)
=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/quotes/GOOG,AMZN/view/v1 ","Pct Change",-1,"",1)

Thanks for your reply. The reason I thought of using the portfolio page was because I thought it would be quicker overall than using 27 different pages as the portfolio has 27 different stocks (and may have more added) but am I incorrect in this ? The RCHGetYahooQuotes() function can't get FREE real-time quotes.

Hi
After having used Linux and libre office for a fey days, the one thing that stops me from leaving m$ windows and m$ office completely is smf functions
So... My question, is there any function / add on that works on libre office that's somewhat similar to the m$ xl's smf add in ? ** Something that can pull data off web pages into libre office spreadsheet ? **
I say somewhat similar because I know it wouldn't be exactly same
I also know that this group does not support open office....but I am not asking for support , I'm merely asking if alternatives exist
The key is to pull web data into libre office
Moderators may please decide if this post is in accordance with group policy. If not please feel free to delete this post
Also please suggest other groups that may be better suited to answer this questions
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Subu

Sort answer is no, your best bet is to install windows on virtual machine
and use SMF add-in

Hi Randy, or anyone who might know,
From Yahoo History, you showed us that we can get table data as by
=RCHGetYahooHistory("MMM",2013,1,1,2013,4,1,d,"AV",1,1,)
Is there a more simple way just to retrieve a symbol's last closing volume as of any date?
Thanks a lot.
Seth

Not sure what you mean by "more simple way"? Maybe:
=RCHGetYahooHistory("MMM",2013,4,1,2013,4,1,"d","v",0)
