Hi Randy

Are you getting "7,53" with this formula?

=smfGetTagContent("https://www.marketscreener.com/D-G-KHAN-CEMENT-COMPANY-L-6495779/financials/","b",4,">Dividend Per Share<")

The results on the page shows "-" so was wondering where this "7,53" came from.

thanks

I get "5,85", which is what I would expect when looking at the web page:

Dividend per Share ( PKR ) *6,00* *7,50* *-* *5,85* *5,13* *4,25*

Strange but I managed to get the right figure now. Thanks.

Use the EXCEL IE object (keyboard shortcut alt+d+d+w), go to the website and login, then cancel out of the IE object. Then run the smfForceRecalculation macro to purge any saved copies of web pages, and try again.

Well kinda works sorta ... I did the above and the RCHGetTableCell worked returning expected values. (I don't remember having to do the above process to get the RCHGetTableCell to work when I first created the spreadsheet but that's another thread.)

The problem returns when I close the spreadsheet then later reopen it . RCHGetTableCell returns "ERROR" even after a smfForceRecalculation. If I create the IE security cookie again (above process) then the problem disappears. It's like the security cookie isn't saved when Excel closes. I checked the IE settings and cookies are not cleared when IE closes.

Suggestions? Thanks

They didn't used to require cookies, so it must be a new change. That's
probably why it stopped working.

But if the cookie doesn't persist, it's probably by their own design.
Cookies have expirations that vary from website to website. For example,
with my brokerage account, the security cookie only exists for about 15
minutes from last web page retrieval. On some websites, my security cookie
has lasted for months. It's not up to the add-in.

But the cookie expiration is a completely different process than the IE
setting that will delete all cookies when IE closes.

In theory, you could write an IE routine to automate the login. I don't do
such things with the add-in because I don't want people to have their user
id and password stored someplace that is easily accessible and possibly
exposed. I used to do it with Morningstar when their cookies only lasted
until midnight of the day they were created, but just got nervous about the
concept of a stored user id and password, and removed it. But it's no
longer an issue with Morningstar.
