Hello Randy,
In your response you mention "EXCEL's "From Web (Legacy)" browser object.".
I never heard of this/that.
What is it?

It's what you get when you do the alt+d+d+w keyboard shortcut. When I add
it to my Quick Access Toolbar, the option is called "From Web (Legacy)"...

I don't know what this is. Never heard of it.

The stockscouter website I use is

https://quotes.freerealtime.com/stock-scouter?title=AAPL https://quotes.freerealtime.com/stock-scouter?title=AAPL

However, it is now saying, for example, that aapl is invalid...or any other stock symbol you use.

I also get that for any ticker symbol I use, even if I click through from
one on their StockScouter lists. So probably a problem on their site.

Randy, do you know of any websites that have free stock ratings?

I've been using https://quotes.freerealtime.com/stock-scouter?title=AAPL https://quotes.freerealtime.com/stock-scouter?title=AAPL

But apparently it isn't working any more.

And if so, can I access it through SMF...what would be the formula to use in Excel?

Thanks.

Hello Randy,
It looks like I may have another website that gives you free rankings of stocks.

Here is an example:

https://www.stockscores.com/charts/charts/?ticker=t https://www.stockscores.com/charts/charts/?ticker=t

The other should give you a ranking for T .. AT&T.

What would be the formula I could use in Excel that will enable me to extract the rating which is at the top...and would point to a cell in my Excel spreadsheet for the stock ticker?

You may want to add this sight to SMF!!! :)
especially...if Stockscouter no longer works in the future.

Thanks.

Hi Randy,

I hope all is well with you. Question for you....

All of a sudden (yesterday and today), I'm getting an "Error" for RCHGetElementNumbers 987, 945, 972, 977, 978, 979, 982, 4925 for any stock symbol that I use.

These ElementNumbers worked last week. Do you experience an Error with these numbers? Do you think Yahoo did something to their website again?

Thanks.

Steve

Hello Randy, It appears that the formula "=IF( $D12="","", RCHGetElementNumber($D12, 4925) ) "
has stopped working for me. It is to find the DIVIDEND YIELD of the stock ticker that is in cell $D12 or any other cell. The formula is responding with #NAME?. Note..that yesterday I was getting "error" instead. I went the smf website and saw that it said that some of the element numbers were changed so I copied/pasted the updated copy of your "smf-elements-2.txt" file to my computer and now I amg getting #Name? instead of error .

What can I do to correct this? what other formula can I replace this with that will give me a stock's current dividend yield?

Thanks.

#NAME? would typically mean the function itself isn't being found. That
would have nothing to do with the smf-elements-2.txt file. It sounds like
you somehow deactivated the add-in?

Based on the formula, I suspect you are getting a number of them? If so, it
would be much faster to grab the information with
smfGetYahooPortfolioView(). You can array-enter that over a range and get
multiple data items for multiple ticker symbols, with a single Internet
request.

Deactivated what add-on? This function in my spreadsheet is working:
"IF($D11="","",RCHGetElementNumber($D11,543)) ". However the 4925 one isn't.

Anything I can do about that? or can you type out the function I can use to replace it? I need it to return the dividend yield for a single stock symbol. Thanks.

I can't think of a situation where element 4925 would return #NAME? and 543
would not.

What do you get if you use these in a new worksheet:

=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM";,543)
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM";,4925)
=RCHGetElementNumber("Definition",4925)
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

It looks like IF($D13="","",RCHGetElementNumber($D13,543)) is giving me an error message...though it was working a few hours ago...and I made no changes.

The 543 is for Stockscouter.

Let me know if it is working for you. Maybe they are updating their files, don't know.

Thanks.

I get "Error", because it requires a login with EXCEL's "From Web (Legacy)"
browser object.

Can you access the web page with that browser object?
