Many thanks for the reply. I will try your suggestion. My VBA skills are sadly very limited - particularly next to yours and the knowledge of SMF.

After many months of flawless operation my yahoo quotes are no longer working either
Here's an example of the cell that has stopped working

='C:\Program Files\SMF Add-In\RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla'!RCHGetYahooQuotes(A37, "l1")

The cell returns #NAME?

Cell A37 contains symbol VGSNX.The sheet has 50 symbols and all have stopped returning new values.

Any help is much appreciated, If there is something I can do to help debug this I'm interested.

Mark

See the "Location Errors" item in the LINKS area of the group.

You need to manually remove the paths from your function invocations. Or
check the add-in manager, and make sure the add-in is still listed there.

I reinstalled KB2850022 and KB2817641 and both GetYahooQuotes and GetYahooHistory are performing normally (and fast). I'm convinced it was a Yahoo! issue.

BTW, there was an 'Office Validate Configuration' update which I no longer see which, I think, attempted to install Word and Power Point, two applications in the Office Suite I do not use (I use Excel, One Note and Outlook). After reconfiguring Office through the Control Panel and removing Word and Power Point, everything seems to be working correctly.

Hi Randy - when using SMF-Template-Zacks-Earnings-Announcements.xls from work in progress folder,
I am getting "Error" on all cells. I installed SMF Add-In and downloaded all .txt files from that folder.

What version of EXCEL do you have? And what do you get for:

=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM";,1290)

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

=smfGetAParms(1290)

=smfstrExtr(smfstrExtr(smfWord(smfWord(","&smfstrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.zacks.com/stock/research/MMM/earnings-announcements","script",-1,"Period
Ending"),"""data"" : [ ","]"),1,"}"),2,","),": ","~"),"""","""")

Are you able to access this web page:

That's the problem, since that is the definition of element 1290.

The basic extraction part of that formula:

=smfGetTagContent("
http://www.zacks.com/stock/research/MMM/earnings-announcements","script",-1,"Period
Ending")

...returns a string that is over 5000 characters long. I think that length
is a problem for EXCEL 2003.

Where do you get an error with the following cells (these are the
individual steps of the formula above):

B2: =smfGetTagContent("
http://www.zacks.com/stock/research/MMM/earnings-announcements","script",-1,"Period
Ending")
B3: =smfstrExtr(B2,"""data"" : [ ","]")
B4: =smfWord(","&B3,1,"}")
B5: =smfWord(B4,2,",")
B6: =smfstrExtr(B5,": ","~")
B7: =smfstrExtr(B6,"""","""")

I'm suspecting the B2 cell, since that is the long string result.

Hi, Is there a way to search and return the lowest closing price and date, look back period of -X days. Foe example, look through the last 30 days and return the lowest price in this period and the date it happened.

Thanks

Use the yahoo price history and enter as an array for the number days you want. Here is a table Randy built

Take a look at the smfPricesBetween() function.
