I am using the formula: =RCHGetYahooHistory("adi","2013","12","26","2013","12","26",,"A",0)
to get closing price at a given date.
The formula works for ^GSPC as a symbol.
But, I cannot get the formula to work for ^DJI. Should I use a different symbol for the DOW?

Historical quotes for the DJIA haven't been available from Yahoo for well
over a year. Dow Jones won't allow Yahoo to give out their data in a CSV
format.
So neither RCHGetYahooQuotes() nor RCHGetYahooHistory() can retrieve ^DJI
data...
For most of my needs, I just use SPY and DIA instead of the indexes. For
performance type usage, they are better anyway, because they include the
dividend effects. ^GSPC and ^DJI never included dividend adjustments in
their historical quotes.

Yes, but note their is no "Download to Spreadsheet" link on the page, like
you see here:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=%5EGSPC+Historical+Prices
That link is the CSV file that RCHGetYahooHistory() used to use for ^DJI,
before it was removed when Dow Jone asserted their licensing on the DJIA
quotes.

Hello Randy and members,
My name is Bac Nguyen, at Sunnyside WA. I have been interested in using EXCEL in finding good stocks. I found this Yahoo group when I read an article in AAII discussing automating the henning technical momentum trading system. I have found the documentation SMF-Addin Combined Documentation -010212-N.pdf very useful for new member. I will read this document and learn how to apply the smf_addin tips.
Thank you very much for your hard work to maintain this group.
