Randy,

I downloaded the most recent version of the SMF Add-In on Sunday, and was able to prove that it worked on a blank document of Excel by using the RCHGetElementNumber("Version") test. However, when I try to use the add-in on a model that a professor gave us for a company research project, and all I get when I try to refresh the page is the error #NAME?. Do you have any ideas on how to get it to work with the model since it's working on a blank Excel spreadsheet?

Thanks,
Chloe

You probably just have a location error. That is, the location you have the
add-in installed is not the same location your professor installed his.

*Try running the smfFixLinks macro.*

What happens is that when EXCEL saves a workbook, it saved a hard-coded
location of the add-in along with every add-in function. When the next
person opens that workbook, EXCEL tries to resolve that function
invocation, by looking for the add-in function in that hard-coded location.
If it can't find it there, it tags it as an "unresolved link" and generates
the #NAME? error. If this is the problem, you look be able to look at the
formula and see the hard-coded location in front of the function. I'm not
sure why Microsoft chose to do it this way.

When you fix the unresolved links and save the workbook on your machine,
you shouldn't get the error next time you open the workbook YOU saved on
your machine. Because now the add-in locations will match up when you open
the workbook.

It's in the add-in.

Use alt+F8 to bring up the macro dialog. It won't show up there, because
EXCEL only shows macros from open workbooks, not from add-ins. But you can
just type the macro name in, and the "Run" button should activate.

There's also a "Fix Links" entry on the context menu (right-click on mouse)
under the "SMF" folder.
