Randy,
I still cannot get element no 621 to work. I've downloaded the new file several times. No joy.

What do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Definition",621)
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM",621)

It's not working because you still have the old definition of the element.

You need to download the latest smf-elements-2.txt file from the web site and place it in your add-in folder:

Hi. I had created my own Excel spreadsheet to help track my investments (circa 2012) but had gotten away from it for the last 2 years .... moving / combining households ... and the time involved.

I sat down the last few nights to resurrect that but am not having much success as what I had no longer functions as it once did so well. My spreadsheet commonly utilized just the RCHGetYahooQuotes function. If I search for help now I see that this is no longer supported as Yahoo discontinued data? Is this true?

If true, what can I use now? I'm not looking for anything complex, I primarily grabbed exchange, company name, market price, market change, per share, yield% pay date, ex-date.

I assume SMF is still a viable solution within Excel. Can anyone offer me some insight as to how I can reprogram my Excel spreadsheet and still gather that little bit of information?

Thanks

Maybe I found my answer ... is smfGetYahooPortfolioView what I seek now?

You are correct. RCHGetYahooQuotes() was obsoleted because Yahoo unplugged
the data source for it.

The replacement is smfGetYahooPortfolioView(). Documentation and a template
are on the web site. Much better, IMO. More fields available. Real time
stock quotes. Also brings back (delayed) quotes for stock options.

I am attempting to create a security master of all of the securities available to trade in the world. I am attempting to do it using this masterful Excel function. I am looking for a little bit of guidance as far as pulling an abundance of information. Any help is welcomed!
Thanks

IMO, not worth doing. It would change the very next day. And different data
sources use different ticker symbols for a lot of companies, especially
when talking about foreign stocks.

You wouldn't even be able to use all of them.

Hi Randy

I could modify this formula to get the sales figure for this stock. However, when it comes to this one, the formula was not able to get the sales figures. Do you know why?

http://www.4-traders.com/SALESFORCE-COM-12180/financials/ http://www.4-traders.com/SALESFORCE-COM-12180/financials/

thanks

That's because ">Sales" is a common occurrence on the web page. You need to
use an additional search term:

=smfGetTagContent("http://www.4-traders.com/SALESFORCE-COM-12180/financials/","b",1,"Fiscal
Period",">Sales")

Another option would be to add the "<" character from the following HTML
tag, to make it unique:

=smfGetTagContent("http://www.4-traders.com/SALESFORCE-COM-12180/financials/
","b",1,">Sales<")

Anyone comment on where I might obtain data for both sector and industry? I used to use RCHGetTableCell pointing to finance.yahoo.com.

It can be gotten off of Investors.com, if you are a member.

Hi Randy. I'm afraid I'm stumped and not really sure if you can help or not. I have a tool I subscribe to called TradeStops. I'd like to be able to pull a value off of the webpage for a given ticker, but cannot even begin to figure out how to locate it on the page. The value I want is the SSI Yellow Zone price.

Obviously, since this is all behind a login, you won't be able to get to it. I've attached a screen shot of an example ticker and the page source code. Not sure if that will help you or not. The value I am trying to get in this example is the 5.49.

I assume I need to use either SMFGetTagContent or RCHGetTableCell, but not even certain there's not a better way. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. However, please don't spend too long on it, don't want to waste your time.

Thanks!
