Thanks Randy, much appreciated.

Have tried the smfUpdateDownloadTable macro and it is much better.

Is it possible to retrieve historical data using this file? for say 3,6,9, 12 months ago?

Thanks for your advice

When I used to run excel 2010 on an old pentium IV, it would bog down to a crawl when multi-threaded calc was enabled. For multi-core, make sure the settings make sense. This has helped me in the past, but your problem may be something different.

You can get the 3-, 6-, and 12-month performance from MSN. But it wouldn't
be a good way to get data from Yahoo's historical quotes, since each data
item would require an Internet access.

I dont mean historical price data (if thats what you are referring to), I mean Element # by date.

Nah. Point-in-time data costs big money.

There are a number of premium/institutional data providers that would have what you need. They are all very expensive though:

https://www.globalfinancialdata.com/Databases/Data.html#Equities_to_1693

http://www.compustat.com/Total_Return/

http://www.crsp.com/

I'd start with Shillers website as his links are free: http://www.econ.yale.edu/~shiller/data.htm

Then try some of the better retail providers:

http://www.csidata.com/

http://www.metastock.com/products/endofday/reutersdatalink/?overview

http://premiumdata.net/

Also, not sure if AAII would have this but it's worth a check.

I clicked "Dividend Rate Change" – "Payouts and Yields" worksheet and I see the dividend payout from 03/31/1977 quarterly. Anyone know how I can get the dividend payout more further such as from 1957?

Hi Randy,

Can you fix the Morningstar Key Ratios Template you designed? Cos the figures for Profit Margin and Profitability are not working. I have no ideas what's wrong with that.

Thanks

Lei

Those elements have all been obsoleted, because they are now on a web page
that MorningStar dynamically generates.

For an alternative, see:

For the #NAME? error, see the "Location errors" item in the LINKS area of
the Yahoo group.

Also, you may want to check out the AdvFN item there, to see if your IE
settings may be the cause of your errors.

And, see: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/18693

You would use "uk" instead of "cn".
