It appears that CEF Connect has joined the club and sometime over
the last few days has changed its website, causing problems with
my workboot (CEFs_Data.xlsm)
--- In smf_addin@yahoogrou
To All,
I created the Altman-Piotroski worksheet. I've been messing with
closed-end funds and not individual stocks lately, so I didn't
notice. If/when I get the time, I'll see what I can do about
getting it in working condition. If you're into CEFs, I have a
sheet some might find useful. Give me some time to make it a bit
more user-friendly and to add explanations. It retrieves all data
from the 3 main CEF websites, CEF Connect, CEFA, and CEF Capital
Link.
Just a word about the grahaminvestor link above. I never trusted
it completely, finding that the numbers generated were too
generous, i.e., the Piotroski scores were generally too high. If
you subscribe to AAII, take a look at their Piotroski screen. It
spit out a few nice trades for me.

That's because it uses data from AdvFN, who has been tinkering
around with their data and web page processing over the past
month, so nothing from them is coming through at this point.

All the data is in error and #value; any suggestion what is
missing?
Could it be older SMF functions versions?
Any instructions how to work it?

I don't know what you're referring to by "Links" or "Functions file" or
"Dividend Growth Rate (5-year annualized)".
If you're using specific formulas, please show them.

The answer to my question apparently is in "Links" which in the
the "More drop down menu along with "Files, Database and
Attachments, Both Links and Database are grayed out, there for
none click able. If I can find out how to access Links I believe
I can figure the rest out.
Thanks for you help, Steve

It seems I am not being clear. The area I am referring to is in
the Yahoo Groups SMF_addin.
Links is where others have been refereed too for answers to
questions.

Those links, including "Links" are all greyed out because you're not logged into the group. It's happened to me a few times. Yahoo can be a pain in the arse.

The add-in shouldn't be doing anything with "Links", at least not with a
new worksheet. It does have to resolve links on an existing workbook when
you open it, if it uses the add-in. If that's what you mean, see the
"Location Errors" entry in the LINKS ares of the Yahoo group.

Hi anyone,
I've looked at the example spreadsheets for yahoo quotes and they are all set up for tables. Is there a simple one cell instruction I can put into an existing spreadsheet to just give me the current price of a ticker in the adjacent column?
I just want to copy the cell down as I need it. Ticker-A1, Price-A2.
Thanks very much,
Jim

Don't do that unless you want a volatile formula. It will recalculate
anytime something changes in the workbook, and be VERY slow if you have a
number of them.
Instead:
=RCHGetYahooQuotes(A2, "l1")
Check the documentation of that function for available Yahoo codes for
various data items.
Note that a large number of the above formulas will also makes your
worksheet slow. That's when you want to array-enter the formula as a table
-- so everything in the table is retrieved with a single Internet access,
instead of each individual formula needing an Internet access.

I attempted to extract the distribution breakdown for ETG using
the following URL with the Distributions tab:
http://www.cefconnect.com/Details/Summary.aspx?ticker=ETG
using the following formula:
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.cefconnect.com/Details/Summary.aspx?\
ticker-"&Ticker,3,"Distribution History","Declared Date",,,,2)
What is returned is "Distribution Amount", the header for the
value I want. I don't find the amount values in the page source,
leading me to believe that the values are dynamically generated
and not available in the source, similar to what Morningstar did
with their financials a while back.
I be thinkin' I be screwed. Am I right ?
