Brad,
I can open a new file fine, activated or not. But I can't do a double click to open a new file, that's done from the file menu.
What I can't do is double click on a file in Windows Explorer or click on an existing file in a recents panel and have it come up, if the add-in is activated. It works fine if the add-in is not activated.
With the add-in activated, I can open an existing file fine if I go to the file menu and use file open, etc.
What worries me a little is, if I have this glitch I can see, are there possibly glitches that affect output that I can't see?
I have just gotten a new laptop to replace an old one. I'm now thinking I will uninstall 2013 and install 2010 from the old laptop. I think that should fix it, but if the problem continues, then it is probably a hardware issue.

I use with Excel 2013 on one computer and Excel 2010 on another. Never experienced the problem you are encountering. Just to be clear, are you able to open a new file and it open fine? Can you do this with both the Add-in activated and not activated?

Randy,
I can get the add-in to work if I go to the file menu and use file open, etc. What I can't do is double click on a file in Windows Explorer or click on an existing file in a recents panel and have it come up, if the add-in is activated. So I guess I could continue to use Excel 2013 using file open, but what worries me a little is, if I have this glitch I can see, are there possibly glitches that affect output that I can't see? I have also written some of my own Excel VBA programs in 2010, and I'm afraid I may have to debug those when using 2013. So I'm now thinking I will uninstall 2013 and install 2010. It could also be a hardware issue, since I've just gotten a new laptop to replace an old one, and it's on the new machine these problems are occurring. I guess I will see that when I install 2010.
Thanks for your help!

Sorry, but I haven't a clue as to what might be going on.
Have you tried one of the "Lite" versions of specific add-in functions from the Yahoo group files area?
Can you deactivate the add-in, then open up a workbook that uses its functions, and THEN activate the add-in?
Or, can you open a new workbook with the add-in deactivated, then activate the add-in, and THEN use add-in functions?

First, I should have mentioned that I have the file locally. I do not store it in the cloud.
Secondly, I will try the macro and see what happens. I'll report back when I'm done

OK. I retried again.
I opened a copy of my problem worksheet. The path shown in the Yahoo worksheet is =C:\Program Files\SMF Add-in\RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla'!RCHGetYahooQuotes. That is where the add-in is. The worksheet is filled with #######.
I run the macro you referenced and now the path shown in the Yahoo worksheet is ==RCHGetYahooQuotes. I still get ###### throughout the page. I have attached screenshots of before and after.

Based on what I see, I would have said the SMF add-in was not active in
EXCEL...but then you wouldn't have been able to run the smfFixLinks macro.
Hmmm. Do you have automatic recalculation off? Try hitting F9 or running
the smfForceRecalculation macro.
Otherwise, I'm stumped. :(
