HKG:1043 *does* work -- for the few line items that match up. That
particular example has a lot of different line items than IBM does. Keep in
mind that a template is just as example for you to work from, to build your
own worksheets -- not to be an end product. So you may need to customize it
for the line items you're interested in.

Hi Randy,
No wonder. It shows only few lines for HK-listed stocks.
Thank you so much for your help.

I was able to use RCHGetYahooQuotes() on ^IBEX and 000001.SS, but Yahoo
didn't have data available for ^BSESN. Using the CSV file interface, anyway
(the "Download delayed data" link on the summary pages).

Thanks for reply,
I am using the attached file (SMF-Template-RCHGetYahooQuotes) to get my data which I downloaded from SMF Templates area. I have added the ticker symbols to the end of the list but I cannot get any data. All other symbols entered are working fine.
I cannot get ^IBEX or 000001.SS to work so am I doing something wrong????
Thanks again,
James

Now I'm getting data for ^IBEX and ^BSESN, but not 000001.SS. Both using
the add-in function and the Yahoo web page options. So I'm thinking it's a
Yahoo glitch...

Hi there,Im pulling data from yahoo and it seems my spreadsheet only loads about two thirds of the different metrics from yahoo like earnings and sales numbers. This spreadsheet has worked well in the past it has 200 tickers and about 7 different metrics per ticker. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. I think it might be yahoos issue to solve. I was wondering if there is a macro to update only the values that return errors in the spreadsheet. I have tried smfforcerecalculation but just want to recalculate the returned errors. Thanks.-Scott

I am having similar issues with Yahoo. In my case my spreadsheet has less than 40 tickers, and randomly give me errors in about 5-10 of them.
I thought that it was only me. Maybe it is a Yahoo thing.

Sounds like you're running into the 1000-webpage limit per session. The add-in needs to save a web page before it can extract data from it, but there are 1000 slots for saving the web pages.
There is no macro to only update values with errors. But you could convert successful items to values before running smfForceRecalculation.
The smfUpdateDownloadTable macro process might give you more flexibility. Earlier this year, I added the capability to have it update only selected rows, columns, or ranges within the table.

Hi there,
Im pulling data from yahoo and it seems my spreadsheet only loads about two thirds of the different metrics from yahoo like earnings and sales numbers. Thanks.

If yours are RCHGetYahooQuotes() functions, you may get a lot better

One of the functions that give me errors for some tickers and it is ok for others:
=RCHGetTableCell("http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s="&A15,1,"Next 5 Years (per annum)")
I got errors for AFL, ED, JNJ, KO. It's ok for BAX, CLX, KMB
When I go to Yahoo Finance using IE, enter the ticker, and when going to the KEY STATISTICS tab, sometimes I get a big message "SERVER INTERNAL ERROR", then I refresh the session and it's ok. Most of the times is ok, but sometimes got this error.

If IE is getting an error, that same thing would cause the add-in results
to result in an error. Not much to do about it if the error is on Yahoo's
side....sigh.

Hello,
New to the group and using the SMF add-in. I most commonly just want to see the current (or last available) price of a stock while the market is open or closed. I can't seem to find this option in the long list of available elements. This sounds like a dumb question as I type this out... Surely this must be available?

Take a look at the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function. For example, to just get
last price:
=RCHGetYahooQuotes("MMM","l1")

Thanks Randy! This is way better than the old MSN Money add-in I've used for years.
One other quick questions, how I do manually (or automatically) have all the data (retrieved from Yahoo) update so I can see the latest prices?
