Thanks Randy,

Yes, it's a Chrome extension. I don't plan on scraping any sites where I'm logged in with the add_in, so it should be good to go.

Really really appreciate your expertise!!!

Happy Holidays!

Hi Randy,

I am referencing how to use the smfForceRecalculation macro

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/smf_addin/conversations/messages/7625

and I can't get it to work. All I get is the menu items highlighted.

I'm using Excel 2013.

Sometimes when I open up a spreadsheet with the smf functions, they don't automatically update and I need to close all instances of Excel and reopen in order to get it to update.

Thanks,

Jim

It depends so much on what you want to do. A lot of people are just interested in daily quotes, which would be the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function. Historical quotes would be the RCHGetYahooHistory() function. More detailed information would use the RCHGetTableCell() and smfGetTagContent() functions, to pull specific items off web pages. Many are "pre-programmed" into the RCHGetElementNumber() function.

And then there are a number of functions specific to options quotes.

The documentation for each function should have at least one example in it. -- they can be found here:

There are a few guides and a lot of additional information here:

A number of examples and templates can be found here:

Hi. Is there a manual or a "How-to-use" post anywhere that I can read so that I can use this add-in more effectively? I just downloaded it and would love to use it, so it'd be helpful if there was a how-to somewhere out there.

Can anyone tell me where to go or what I should do?

I can't speak to EXCEL 2013, but in EXCEL 2007, when those menu items
highlight (I'm assuming you mean the macro menu brought up with alt-F8),
you can click on them. If that's not working, you could try to assign the
macro to a button on the Quick Access Toolbar (or whatever is used in EXCEL
2013). I have the smfForceRecalculation, smfUpdateDownloadTable, and
smfFixLinks macros on buttons.

I can't explain why workbooks sometimes don't automatically update upon
opening unless you shut down and restart EXCEL and reopen them. That makes
no sense to me -- the simply opening the workbook would have two different
behaviors.

No. Alt-F8 doesn't do anything. As soon as you hit "Alt", it highlights the regular menu items/tabs at the top.

No macro menu. Not sure how to access it and add the buttons.

Best regards,

Jim

Oops, never mind. I found it under the Options/Quick Toolbar/Macros.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Jim
