I am having the same problem as another SMF user had recently. On a Win10Pro/Excel2013 box, I am having to deselect/reselect. the addin every time I open the worksheet. I have tried many things including running the smfFixLinks macro, which will activate the plugin for that session only.. When you save the worksheet and reopen it, the links are broken again. I tried "unblock" on the general tab and it made no difference. I tried adding the SMF folder to the trusted zone and it appears to have made no difference. Turned off virus protection, also no difference. Enabled all external content in the Trust Center= no difference. I did a "reset options" reinstall on the entire Office 2013 Suite and it made no difference. I am not sure what that really accomplished since the spreadsheet still had the SMF addin attached, so it is not clear what MS means when they supposedly reset to original defaults. I tried changing the folder holding the plugin and that also did not work, it just created false errors that the spreadsheet seemed to remember.
The only thing that worked was a did a fresh Win10Pro/Excel 2013 on a different box on it worked perfectly. Short of a clean install on my main box, I am out of ideas.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me.

If you can run smfFixLinks, then the add-in is available.

If you close and restart EXCEL, what does this formula give you in a new
worksheet:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

Hi Randy, instead of using my spreadsheet, I downloaded the smfGetPortfolioView-Example template. I changed the array formula to point to where I put the add in. The data section performs exactly the same as my spreadsheet. It updates the first time you open it, then you save it and re-open it does not update. When you run the smfFixLinks macro, the sheet does update again.
I added a separate tab just for the =RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
It replied with:
"Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2018.01.24 (c:\Program Files (x86)\SMF_Add_in; Windows (64-bit) NT :.00; 15.0; ; ; 1)"
and did NOT change when the sheet was saved and re-opened.
Not sure what to make of it. . . .
Thanks

You should NEVER "change the array formula to point to where you put the
add in". That defeats the purpose of using an add-in. And causes problems
later, as you see. Because now you've MADE the formula a linked formula
instead of an add-in formula.

The whole point of using the smfFixLinks macro is to GET RID OF the
location attached to the function. The resolves it so that it MUST use the
function AS an add-in function.

Whenever you have a location error and unresolved links for the add-in, you
should immediately run the smfFixLinks macro and then save the worksheet.
Then, the next time you open it, it should automatically be using the
proper location for the add-in (unless you move the add-in).
