JIMNEELY,
Here's basically what I'm trying to do.
I have salesmen's names in Col A and sales in Col B. I want to move salesman Smith's rows to a new sheet. Smith's rows are scattered in many non-connected rows. I filtered Col A, and displayed only Smith. To move Smith's rows to a new sheet, I thought I'd cut the visible cells and paste them on a new sheet. A cut doesn't work, because of the error message I cited earlier. Instead I copy the visible rows and paste them on a new sheet. I then go back to the original sheet and select the rows (not the cells), and delete them.
I see now that a cut wouldn't have been any more useful than a copy, since it would have left me with blank rows which I would have had to delete anyway.
The question remains: Why can you copy cells in non-connected rows, but not cut them?
