Hi Randy,
Thanks, but where could I find the documentation folder?
Regards,
Ronald

Thank you, Mike.
In my Privacy settings of IE I have "Always Allow" for msrb.org
If I goto that page now it displays it without asking me to Accept.
If I launch Excel now and call that function, with the page still open in IE, I still get "Error" for
=smfGetTagContent("http://emma. msrb.org/ ","a",-1,"/IssueDetSecurityView/ SecurityDetails. aspx?cusip= 838736UV6 ails.")
Whereas
=smfGetTagContent("http://uk.finance. yahoo.com/ ","span",0,"q?s=GBPUSD= X yfs_l10_gbpusd" )
gives me the rate today with no error.
Is there some other security setting I should consider?
I ask because the same problem may occur with other sites that require cookies.
Thanks
Patrick

Have you tried visiting that web page in EXCEL's Web Query dialog? On a
very few rare situations, the problem has been that the version of IE
used by EXCEL is not the same as the one used as a browser.
In any case, you shouldn't need to keep the page open in IE -- just
creating the cookie is sufficient. My cookie is still working for EXCEL,
as a copy and paste of your formula below worked just fine.
Do you have your Internet settings set to always get new content when
visiting a web page? Have you tried running the smfForceRecalculation
macro? See the "Links" area of the group for more info on both of those.

Difference in Reported Dividend Yield

Why is the dividend yield different from what RCHGetYahooQuotes("MMM","y" ) reports versus many other sources? For example, for 3M Corp, RCHGetYahooQuotes( "MMM","y" ) reports a dividend yield of 2.56% while the websites of Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, Schwab, TD AMeritrade and Fidelity all report a yield of 2.70%.

You do realize that dividend yield varies each day based on the stock price.

2.56% would be the trailing yield. 2.7% would be the forward yield, *
assuming* that they keep paying $0.59 per quarter. On MMM, that's probably
a good assumption. On some other stocks, maybe not.
Note that the number of sites reporting one data value or another may make
little difference -- it may just mean there are two different sources of
the fundamental data. For example, if Google, Schwab, Ameritrade, and
Fidelity all get their fundamental data from Reuters, it doesn't mean it's
a consensus value.
And it may also differ because some update data from Reuters (or whoever)
on a daily basis, while others do it weekly. For example, a lot of mutual
fund data on Yahoo comes from Morningstar, but it not updated on a daily
basis.

Kermit,
Yes, I do realize yield depends on stock price, both of which would change on those days the market is open. However, the values I reported are all from retrievals made today (Saturday, 2/18/2012), so the two percentages I related are not necessarily affected by a changing market conditions.

Randy,
Thank you for that information. At least I have a clearer understanding of such reported differences. And yes, it is possible the sources I cited obtain their data from a common source.
Again, allow me to congratulate you on a wonderful SMF add-in package. I am finding it very useful.

Historical Price Comparison Workbook - Google docs version
Posted by: "bobsledproductions" JPeters3515@snet.net bobsledproductions

If you're interested I put together a simple historical price comparison workbook in google docs. Search for the template here:
https://docs.google.com/ templates? q=historical+ price+comparison &type=spreadshee ts&sort=hottest& view=public
I also blogged about the steps in creating the sheet here:
http://justspreadsheets.blogspot. com/2012/ 02/charting- dividend- stocks.html
Within the workbook I created a simple chart comparison between stocks with and without reinvested dividends. Far too many charts just show pricing data, and if you invest in high yielding stocks as I do, the charts you get don't do them justice.

That formula worked flawlessly for the last 19 months and then Bloomberg
apparently changed the format. I tried to figure out how to modify the
formula myself but have decided to admit failure and ask for help.
Please...
