Hello!
Is it possible to download intraday 1 min data?
Thanks!

It would all depend on the source of the data and how they present/provide
it.

I don't know of such a source.

You look like you're grabbing a lot of data. The add-in has a built in
limit of being able to access only 1000 web pages per "session". Anything
further returns "Error" values. The add-in is designed for ad hoc usage. I
don't really want people overusing the free data sources, since they can
rewrite their web pages so that the add-in can't access the data.

That must take a long time to load.

We've also had instances of individuals being shut down because of too many
accesses to data for a particular web site (e.g. Zacks). Presumably based
on IP address.

Have you looked at what FinViz can provide? You can can a large number of
data items for all the stocks they have, with a single Internet access. See
the LINKS area of the group for more information.

That's probably why then, exceeded the limit.

Didn't know that they put restrictions on the amount of data people can access.

I shall check out Finviz.

Thanks,
LY

Hi Randy,

the RCHGetTableCell(finviz) solution works very well.

I was wondering if I do retrieve a substantial amount of data, does it help that i am accessing with a single internet access?

don't want to get banned because I really do like this add-in!

Regards,
LY

It would be the number of accesses, I would think.

It hasn't happened very often.

I do know that investors.com has a limit to how many stock checkup you can
run in a 24-hour period (300 or 400 I think). Not sure how they enforce it.

IMO, the best way to use the add-in is to use the free screening services
to get down to a manageable set of ticker symbols. Then use the add-in to
get more detail on that set of companies.

Dear Randy,
Much of the problem with advfn is it is hard to automatically choose the exchanges for each ticker.

If we change the advfn function to something like =smfGetADVFNElement("NYSE";,"MMM";,"A",1,">Year End Date")

much of the problem can be solved.

It looks up the exchange right now. However, I had considered adding it as
an optional parameter. If passed as a parameter, it could skip the lookup
step and just used the passed value.

But, right now, I have no issues with the AdvFN elements. It's the regional
redirections that are an issue.
