Thanks you for your fast answer. To give you more detail:

If I request the historical adjusted close for GZF.F from 21st of august 2006 to september the 18th 2006 at yahoo directly, it get 21,64 as adjusted close for the last day (18.09.2006). If I use the tool the value I get is 23,43. While all the other adjusted close values are biased in the same way, all the other data is just fine (high, low, close, volume...)

I hope that helps in understanding my problem. Thanks a lot for your help,

Chris

Awhile back we were having a server freeze at a certain date so I had my macro put in the date from the server and then check that date. And, IF the check failed, the macro would "do it again" until we got a server that was OK.

Once again, I am "Dumbfounded" by my inability to type in a correct formula.

When I type the =RCHGetElementNumber("P-URL",13666) into a cell I included the /100

You must really get tired of all our stupid user errors.

Thanks for all your hard work keeping us on track.

Hmm. It works for me:

=RCHGetElementNumber("P-URL",13666)

...returns:

http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/financialHighlights?symbol=~~~~~

Just substitute the "~~~~~" string with a ticker symbol.

The "P-URL" did not work in this case.

I downloaded the template again following the same steps I did the first time. This time the template has the divide by 100.

I can't explain how the divide by 100 was not in the first template as I did not change any cells in the template.

Randy, while browsing the Files > Templates and Examples > RCHGetTableCell I noticed the RCHGetTableCell-Template-Index.xls

This file as you know contains information on each template as well as the URL used to obtain the information.

The more I browse the yahoo group the more impressed I am with what you have done.

I almost hate to ask if you can update this file but it would be a great help to me and other users.

Thanks again for a great tool.

Pete, if you are still around any chance you can provide some help on how to use the EX-Div spreadsheet. I have been trying to use it but haven't figure out where or what to enter to retrive informatiom.

If anyone has used this Ex-Dividend spreadsheet perhaps you would be so kind as to assist with how I use it.

Thanks,
Kermit

It looks like they've completely changed the format of the web page the
data was extracted from. I uploaded that file based on a request after this
discussion:

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/13347

I just updated the file based on the new web page layout, and uploaded the
new copy of the file. I added the ability to get a list of different rating
values as well. Anything other than 1, 4, or 5 produces a large list, but
since there were only two companies with a 5 rating, I thought it might be
nice to check the 4 values as well. Easiest just to make it apply to all
ratings.

WOW! I am once again impressed with how quick you response and resolve request.

Of course, we are never satisfied. We always want more. I trying to figure out how you determine how many dates there were available?

Any chance you can give me the actual URL for say Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I'd like to know so when I go to the site I can view dates other than just the next day. I really need the Ex-dividend dates as early as possible.

The dividata.com site still has several problems that I reported to them last year. But it is a great site for dividend information

Thanks,
Kermit

All of the available dates are on the same page. Did you look at it?

http://dividata.com/dividates

It basically has a list of companies that are going ex-dividend in the next
several weeks, listed day by day.

Why the spreadsheet does is:

1. In the "Dates" worksheet, it extracts all of the dates that are on
the web page. In this case, July 11th thru Aug 9th. I need this list later.
It's a cascading extraction, looking for each successive occurrence of the
"class=""diviexdate" string.

2. In the main worksheet, I look for the ticker symbol of each of the
stocks with the requested rating. Again, a cascading extraction, looking
for each successive occurrence of a string like: "rating_bar_5".

3. Price, Yield, Years, and Company are all situated nearby the ticker
symbol, so they are easy to find.

4. The Ex-Div Date is more difficult, because it is prior to the ticker
symbol. And I'm not sure how far previously. However, it is easy to find
the NEXT ex-dividend date header. So, I find that, and then use the lookup
table on the "Dates" worksheet to find out what the previous ex-dividend
date header was. This lookup is the only reason for the "Dates" worksheet.

If you do want a more comprehensive list for each ex-dividend date, take a
look at:

http://www.earnings.com/dividend.asp?date=&client=cb

Note that these sources will only give you DECLARED dividends. I have
another workbook I use for Dividend Champions that anticipates ex-dividend
dates as requested. For example:

*Ticker* *Source* *Ex-dividend date* *Week* *Yield* *Ex-Date* *Warning*
ABT Dividend Champion xxxx-07-11 1 3.11% 2012-07-11 RPM Dividend Champion
xxxx-07-11 1 3.13% 2012-07-11 COP Kahuna-24 xxxx-07-21 2 4.86% 2012-05-17
<== PG Dividend Champion xxxx-07-21 2 3.65% 2012-04-25 <== CLX Dividend
Champion xxxx-07-23 2 3.54% 2012-07-23 NWN Dividend Champion xxxx-07-27 3
3.75% 2012-07-27 CWT Dividend Champion xxxx-08-05 4 3.37% 2012-05-03 <==
HCP Dividend Champion xxxx-08-05 4 4.49% 2012-05-03 <== SJW Dividend
Champion xxxx-08-05 4 3.00% 2012-05-03 <== PBI Dividend Champion xxxx-08-08
5 10.53% 2012-08-08 BMS Dividend Champion xxxx-08-11 5 3.26% 2012-05-14
<== EMR Dividend Champion xxxx-08-11 5 3.56% 2012-05-09 <== MSEX Dividend
Champion xxxx-08-11 5 3.90% 2012-05-11 <== VVC Dividend Champion xxxx-08-12
5 4.74% 2012-05-11 <== LLY Kahuna-30 xxxx-08-13 5 4.56% 2012-08-13

It shows Dividend Champions (and selected others) that are going
ex-dividend in the next 5 weeks and paying more than a 3% dividend.

The "Ex-Date" column is the current listed ex-dividend date that I can find
online. The "Warning" column flags those items that haven't been declared
yet, but are expected to be based on the *manually maintained *"Ex-Dividend
Date" column.

Hey there,

please excuse me to bother you again. If I try to get data from MSN with the RCHGetElementNumber command, all I get is an error. For example =RCHGetElementNumber("IBM";1541)returns "error", while it works fine with yahoo =RCHGetElementNumber("IBM";941). Is there any way you could tell me, what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,

best regards,

Best practice:

1. Exit EXCEL
2. Download the new version of the element definition file
3. Replace the older version of this file in your add-in's file folder
with the newer downloaded version
4. Restart EXCEL

The "c4" is what i meant but i wonder where on the site the value come from, because yahoo is publish it on tabs like "Summary", "Profile", "Income Statement"

I got my currency's now thanxs.
Maybe you can make a number for RCHGetElementNumber for all the source currencys like MSN Currency/ Google Currency. It's a suggestion because i think more people like to have a currency symbol on there page. (I do because it's not always clear if the data is in euros or dollars for Europese stocks)

When I do my Vlookup's I get the usual error (#Value) I've conditioned formated those out, but no zeros is making it hard to do Ben Graham's "intrinsic value" and few other exotic formulas. I tried Iferror,Iserror, abs(), text()Isnumber.

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($H$6:$H$206,'Stock Screener'!$C$11:$BR$7000,U$5,FALSE),0)
this will generate a zero in blank cell, then add ticker "ANLY" dividend yield goes blank.

The stock screener makes it easy to filter.
Thanks for Help.

Randy,

Do you know of an easy way to extract the current market news from the attached website?

I would like to create a data section and just use Vlookup where it pulls the required ticker info.

I have the Vlookup done, just need a way to pull this info that is not in a table.

Thanks

It would be a real mess to read in a spreadsheet, because the text is
filled with HTML markup language. Removing all of it would not be a trivial
task.

Hmm. That site won't even open for me in IE, so I get "Error" using any
add-in function on the web page.

Hi Randy,
I would like to display a chart from Bigcharts using rchCreateComment. The webaddress is longer longer than 255 characters which causes problems in excel. Have you found a relatively easy work-around for this?

The chart I'd like to view in excel can be found here:
http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/kaavio.Webhost/charts/big.chart?nosettings=1&symb=qcom&uf=0&type=2&size=2&sid=8267&style=320&freq=5&entitlementtoken=0c33378313484ba9b46b8e24ded87dd6&time=13&rand=1599134777&compidx=aaaaa%3a0&ma=0&maval=9&lf=8388608&lf2=0&lf3=0&height=335&width=579&mocktick=1

My ultimate goal is to be able to view/extract the high and low PE of a company each year.

Thanks,
Josh

Sorry, but I don't know of a workaround, since it is an EXCEL limitation...

I would think you could create your own chart fairly easily...
