Randy.  The old browser settings under Clear Browsing Data option show the Cached data and files checked.  Is that what you are referring to?

The BarChart function was probably getting a timeout from not finding the requested web resource? It could be you were picking up a cached copy of the web page on your old computer? Did you not have the IE options set to always get a fresh copy of a web page on the old machine?

Downloaded fresh version of SMF Add-in with no change in lengthy update issue this morning.  Started pouring through Excel settings and could find nothing that needed attention.  Read a lot on Excel and memory allocation without much help but it and Tom's questions did focus me more on the Excel file itself.  So, I copied the data collection sheet into a file by itself to dis associate it from all the activity of the original file that pulled data from it.  This newly created data worksheet had the same lengthy update issue.  While playing around with it I started deleting the hidden columns associated with the defunct BarChartPortfolioView thinking it was no longer going to re immerge one day.  Its previous array had been deleted back when BarChart locked us out but he column of tickers were still there along with the headers.  Interestingly enough when all those columns were eliminated the problem went away.  Why they suddenly started interfering is a mystery to me after months of not interfering?  Something must have gone awry the last time I closed and saved the file before migrating it to new computer.  After a couple of reboots for testing I feel pretty good that the file is in good shape and operating properly in both the old and new computer.  New computer is opening apps in a fraction of the time it took old one and downloading about 50% faster. Time to look at enhancing the internet speeds.  Thanks for your help.

No. That's a different setting. You need to tell IE to always get a fresh
copy of a web page, instead of using a saved copy of the web page. See this
item from the "Tips and FAQs" page from the website:

Thanks Randy.  It was set on Automatic.  Now changed on both computers.
So, on start up this morning the initial SMF upload went well as did the subsequent uploads.  The initial download is about 30% faster and the update about 1 - 2 seconds.  Awesome.  However, some how during the initial download the system added 4 years and 1day to each Ticker's downloaded dates such as Earnings and Dividend dates.  Not only did this occur on the SMF data but on the manually entered dates I record in another section of the Excel file that I use to track performance of my holdings.  Weird.  Looked at date in computer and it was fine.  Used =(Today()) in spread sheet and it returned correct date.  Ran virus scan and it didn't find any issues. Rebooting and repeating download didn't help.  Went back to old computer and did not experience the issue.  Copied Old computer file to New and downloaded SMF data and so far it is working properly.
If you or others know what likely could have caused this please fill me in.  Corrupted?   Otherwise don't waste any time on it.  Seem to be doing well with current file.
Thanks for a great Stock Market tool!!!!

Google is your friend. For the date issue, see:

https://www.accountingweb.com/technology/excel/when-excel-dates-mysteriously-shift-by-4-years

Found by simply looking for "date in excel is four years off" on Google.

Ha!  Randy is my friend!
Yep, there it was - the 1904 date convention was checked.  I'm on Google a lot but it didn't occur to me to look at it for Excel answers. The hard part in all of this is going to be trying to figure out how that happened.  I know on some level that I must be guilty but I sure don't know how that happened, and to 2 spreadsheets.  So, I'm just going to take the 5th.
Thanks!
Note to self: buy some Google stock.
