Randy,

Thanks in advance for all of your help over the years. I have benefited greatly.

Lately I have noticed that some of my M* formulas do not seem to be working properly. One of them is the 1 year "Rank in Category" located in the Trailing Total Return section inside the Performance tab. Here is what I have been using.

=smfGetTagContent("http://performance.morningstar.com/Performance/cef/trailing-total-returns.action?t="&A$2,"td",6,"Rank in Category (NAV)",,,,1)

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

I too have had issues with the CEF Trailing return category ranks.
However, I have successfully today used =RCHGetElementNumber(tkr,4880) for
the
Year 1 category rank for CEF's.
4881 = Y2 category rank
4882= Y3 category rank , etc etc.
Y1 is YTD; Y2 is last year, etc.
At least, this is a workaround.

Randy,

Thanks again for all of your help!

Here is one other issue I can't seem to resolve with M*. It has to do with the mutual fund name not pulling up consistently. On some fund symbols it works great and produces the fund name and on others it doesn't work at all. They pull up fine on the M* website so I am befuddled. Perhaps I shouldn't be using the element any longer.

Here is my formula:
=RCHGetElementNumber(Q1,4811)

Works on:
VFIAX, AMCFX, VTSAX

Does not work on:
GLIFX, PSDYX, EILDX

Thanks in advance!

I get a "We could not find the security" message from MorningStar for first
two that don't work and redirected to a quotes page for the third one:

http://quicktake.morningstar.com/fundnet/printreport.aspx?symbol=GLIFX
http://quicktake.morningstar.com/fundnet/printreport.aspx?symbol=PSDYX
http://quicktake.morningstar.com/fundnet/printreport.aspx?symbol=EILDX

I'd assume the "printreport" page is being phased out. I don't do much with
MorningStar any more. They've made so many changes over the years, and I
don't use mutual funds. And, lately, they've been adding the need for
credentials for some of their data files, so I only see that trend
continuing.
