Greetings. The 1-30-2012 version does not appear to be in the works in progress folder at this time. (I see only three items there (need to be looked at folder, prior versions folder, and the change log).
I am currently using the 1-21-2012 version and I think I need the ADVfn change that is in the 1-30 2012 version to make things right again.
Thanks in advance

That version was changed to be the official release, so now it's in the
"Add-In Files" folder...

Some RCHGetElementNumber codes do not work today
Posted by: "timdbui" timdbui@gmail.com timdbui

Hi Randy,
Several of my RCHGetElementNumber codes give #VALUE! or Error today. They all worked in the past.
For example:
=RCHGetElementNumber(Symbol, 9506)+RCHGetElem entNumber( Symbol,9546)
this cell supposes to give the most recent Cash & Sec amount stopped working today and gives back #VALUE!.
I have updated the latest addin 2.1.2011.01.28 but it did not help.
Could you tell me what should I do?
Thanks so much, Randy!

Those are AdvFN elements and you need the absolute latest SMF which
addresses the recent change to that website.
Those elements are working fine for me with the latest version.

You are absolutely right, Mike. I updated to the most recent Addin and it works. Thanks for your suggestion! Tim

SMFTech Question
Posted by: "draz2121" bolony21@gmail.com draz2121

Hi Randy,
I see that the SMFTech function is coded to print the results base don the dates running from bottom to top i.e. the latest date is at the bottom of the array and the earliest date is at the top.
Is there a quick way to flip this?

Nope. However, you could get the free TA-Lib add-in, which has a reverse
function library that will. Do a search of the message archives for more
info on it.

Hello,
I started making a macro to
extract the official forecasts of site (JavaScript) of the Brazilian Central
Bank.
"https://www3.bcb.gov.br/ "expectativas/ publico/consulta /serieestatistic as
Basically, it is needed to select options from the SelectBoxand Optionbox and generate the
".XLS" or ".CSV".
The point is that: each
selected option (SelectBoxand Optionbox), page refreshes.
However, with the macro that I
made, the page is fully updated and I end up losing previously selected options.
I wonder if anyone can help me
to solve this program. One alternative I thought was consider the function
"smfGetCSVFile ()". But I do not knowexactly howit or others Add-in might be useful in this case.
The program is following:
Function ExtraiDados()
Dim Enderço, URL As String
Dim ret As Long
With CreateObject("InternetExplore r.Application" )
.Visible = True
.navigate "https://www3.bcb.gov.br/ "expectativas/ publico/consulta /serieestatistic as
While .ReadyState <> 4
DoEvents
Wend
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("Indicador" ).Value = "3"
.Refresh 'Here is the problem: the page is fully updated
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("calculo" ).Value = "0"
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("linhaPerio dicidade: periodicidade" ).Value = "0" 'this part is only if the pages refreshes
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("grupoIndic ePreco:opcoes_ 2").Click 'this part is only if the pages refreshes
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("tfDataFina l").Value = "11/04/2011"
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("tfDataInic ial").Value = "01/03/2011"
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("btnXLS" ).Click
.Document.forms.Item(0).All. Item("btnXLS" ).Click
.Quit
End With
End Function
thanks - 4c.

No, it's that the XMLHTTP protocol only returns a truncated copy of the
source code of the web page. I don't know why. I looked into the problem
several years ago and found no resolution:
http://finance.groups.yahoo. com/group/ smf_addin/ message/10155
The same problem occurs with the EXCEL Web Query process, so it's not
specific to the add-in processing.

I don't think the add-in can be of any help in this case. All add-in
functions require a bookmarkable URL. It can't be a URL generated
dynamically by interacting with the web page.
If you are generating your CSV file via your VBA, you're going to have to
process with your VBA.

Please can somebody start me off
Posted by: "draz2121" bolony21@gmail.com draz2121

I am currently using SMFGetYahooHistory to fetch the following:
Date adjOpen adjHigh adjLow adjClose Volume
for various shares.
My frustration lies with the fact that Yahoo does not update it's EoD data until 1-2 hours AFTER our market (LSE) opens the following day.
This does not allow me to do analysis after a day's trading and plan strategy for the following day.
I see that Google and MSN all have their EoD data available within 2-3 hours of market close which is ideal.
Could somebody please start me off here with an example of how to fetch the date and one of the prices from each google and MSN - then I can work on bringing the rest through using your example.
The date must work up from the bottom of the array also i.e. latest date at the bottom.
Many thanks in advance.

When I'm on the historical quotes page for Google or MSN, both have a
"Download" option. You should just grab that file and sort it in whatever
order you need, if it has all of the data you need.

Can this not be automated using your add-in though Randy?
I figured that you could use the elements function in some way?

From Google:
=smfGetCSVFIle("
http://www.google.com/finance/ ")historical? q=NYSE:MMM& output=csv
From MSN:
=smfGetCSVFIle("
http://investing.money.msn. com/investments/ equity-historica l-price/? PT=7&D4=1& DD=1&D5=0& DCS=2&MA0= 0&MA1=0&CF= 0&nocookie= 1&SZ=0&symbol= MMM&Download= 1
")
But the MSN historical quotes are weekly, so I doubt they would fit your
needs.
