I resolved all the links in the smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-Specific-Line-Items example...
No matter what ticker I enter, it returns "--" to every cell as if there is no symbol entered, with the exception of the "Number of periods available" cell which outputs "Error". Is there something else I am missing? I would really like to be able to utilize the power of this function. Thank you for your time and for making these available!

Are you getting the #NAME? errors because you have unresolved links? See the location errors item on the "Tips and FAQs" page.
Did you try one of the examples from the smfGetAdvFNElement() documentation?

Do I need to create some text file for this function to work in the U.S.? and if so, what is it I am supposed to include?

The problem is that you have an old version of the add-in. I had to make a
change to the smfGetAdvFNElement() function last year because of changes
AdvFN had made to their website structure.

Randy, isn't there a way you can plug in code to test for latest version and post a message box telling the user to update to the latest version?

Because of the complications, I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Not
everyone uses every function.
