Your written description is also reversed:

  "Cancel ...the progress bar, ...prompt ... to confirm the cancellation ...when No button got pressed, the macro should stop''.   ??   [No] you don't want to (aren't sure) cancel, yet it stops.

 

Please make sure your words and the buttons are very clear.

 

I recommend not asking "are you sure".  Just:

 

Do you want to CANCEL this operation?  [Yes]  [No]

 

I recommend putting the description of the operation in the dialog, like this:

 

Do you want to  CANCEL  this search ? [Yes] [No]

OR

Do you want to  CANCEL  this sorting operation ? [Yes] [No]

OR

Do you want to  ABORT  this scanning operation ? [Yes] [No]

OR

Do you want to  HALT  this search? [Yes] [No]

 

Oe even just  Cancel this search ?    [Yes]  [No]

 

I like to capica ize and but an extra space before/after the key word to maker it more obvious.

 

With the now very common method of asking if you are sure, folks are used to seeing this and can tend to scan the words quiclky thinking they know what is says.

 

With a common progress bar routine for different operations , simply pass the name of the operation to the sub.
