Subject: [smf_addin] chartapi
Did a search of the group for references to chartapi and didn't get any hits. I've been using this lately because it's easier than dealing with eSignal to extract intraday data and the limitation of only providing 5 minute data is good enough for what I'm doing. There's no description anywhere of how it works, but I've been downloading 20 days of 5 minute data (20d) or 2 years of of daily data (2y).
I was interested in calculating the ATR of a pair spread like "1.4 * CCL - RCL" using intraday data. All the charting software only looks at the opening and closing of a pair for figuring out the high or low of the day on these kinds of spreads so ATR calculation on daily data of pair spreads is always low. 5 minute data results is very close to 1 minute data results for a 14 day ATR calc.
= smfGetCSVFile("http://chartapi.finance.yahoo.com/instrument/1.0/SPY/chartdata;type=quote;range=20d/csv", pDim1:=kRows, pDim2:=kCols)

Randy,
It seems that AdvFN.com has now updated financial information. Their data presentation format seems to be changed. Does your smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls from 2013-11-11 12:58 AM works properly?
Folks
Does AdvFN.com provide reliable financial data?
Thanks
J. C. Hyjun

The template is working fine for me. What changes are you seeing? The
add-in was updated last year for changes to their web pages...

AdvFn did show annual reports for longer periods (~15 years) previously. Now it is 5 years only on screen. Your template takes info for 21 years (for IBM), which is good.
For all 16 companies I checked the latest report uploaded by 4/24/14 or 4/23/14 - hopefully AdvFn finished re-design.

AdvFN has only shown 5 years (or quarters) at a time in the past.
There is a new "beta" format that is different, but they haven't
implemented it yet. They may not ever implement it. :)

To anyone,
Has anyone explored dragging in the current 10-k/q reports directly from SEC?

Any time I've looked at it, it's been a pain.
Most people are interested in historical, while the SEC has it by period
instead of combined.
The other issue is how to extract and use the data when it may have very
unique line items?
Unless things have changed?
