Without ticker symbols, I can't investigate anything. Try it on ticker
symbol MMM.
All I need is specific formulas that you are using.

Hi Randy,
Just as an information: I've had trouble with Piotroski data
element with all symbols I've tried. I did not go further with
it for sheer lack of time.
Best regards,
Armando

When i use RCHGetElementNumber
In all other cases as RCHGetElementNumber
I've also some problem (we discuss it in another post) with mornigstarT with function RCHGetElementNumber from 885 to 891 except with data 885. is it Normal? I have not a premium registration but i don't understand why function 885 returns the exact value and the others not work.
Grazie e sorry for my english.

I just tried elements #15001 thru #15014 with ticker symbol MMM and they
work fine for me.
Didn't you have troubles accessing AdvFN data? Most of the Piotroski items
are calculated using elements from AdvFN. For example, these three items
are needed to calculate the 2nd Piotroski factor:
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM",11326)
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM",11330)
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM",6856)
What do you get for them? There are two possible things you need to do to
access AdvFN data. See the "Tips and FAQs" web page for more information.
Element #885 from MorningStar is not a proprietary item, so it doesn't
require the IE security cookie.

the formula returns me value 1 , for all symbol i use.(?)
In all other cases as RCHGetElementNumber

As I mentioned, I was not successful using Piotrosky data element
either. My initial interpretation of the problem was this:
(1) The calculated Piotrosky number depends on 9 other data
elements.(2) If any one of those elements are missing for any
reason, then the resulting calculation would give an "Error" on

either. My initial interpretation of the problem was this:
(1) The calculated Piotrosky number depends on 9 other data
elements.(2) If any one of those elements are missing for any
reason, then the resulting calculation would give an "Error" on
the cell.
I've not not verify whether that theory is correct. Perhaps
Randy can attest to it.
That was my guess when I first tried it. Perhaps for blue chip
tickers like MMM all data elements are there.

Actually, there are probably 50 to 60 data elements used. And most are
AdvFN items. So if Italy has problems with AdvFN items, Piotroski won't be
available either.
It appears the Italy issue is that they don't follow the URL format used by
other countries.

I am trying to use the template smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls. I live in Canada so I changed the link to http://ca.advfn.com/ http://ca.advfn.com/
Ticker Symbol NYSE/MMM
Quarterly Data (Q)
The number of periods come back correctly (81)
However all other fields display "--"
I am using Windows 7 and EXCEL 2010
I tried registering with ADVFN for a free account then logging in but didn't make a difference.
Other Info: I successfully used the template RCHGetHTMLTable-Template-MSN-Annual-Financials.xls
Does the ADVFN template work correctly? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

What link did you change? If the number of quarters came back OK, the
smfGetAdvFNElement() function is working OK. So it must be column C that is
not calculating problem. It's what gets all the line item labels for
smfGetAdvFNElement() to use. What URL value did you end up with in cell B5?

I edited B5 directly and ended up with
="http://ca.advfn.com/exchanges/"&RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla!smfstrExtr(RCHGetWebData("http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol="&Ticker,"canonical",150),"/exchanges/","/financials")&"/financials?btn="&IF(rAQ="A","annual","quarterly")&"_reports"
I've now changed B5 back to "http://www.advfn.com/...." and I still get the same result. 81 quarters but no information is displayed anywhere else, only "--". (No text or numbers)

Cell C7 has formula =IF(UPPER(Ticker)="NONE","--",RCHGetTableCell(rURL,1,"Indicators",,,,ROWS($7:7),"</TABLE",,"--"))
The =IF(UPPER(Ticker)="NONE" appears to work OK so it has to be the RCHGetTableCell(...) that isn't operating correctly.
Steve
The =IF(UPPER(Ticker)

I got it working by going back to the original and starting over. I'm not sure what was wrong but I adjusted some settings for both EXCEL and IE options.
Thanks for the help Randy

OK - a new problem. I did a few spot tests with different stock symbols. I'm finding that there is a problem occurring in 2013 when looking at quarterly data. Most of the time 1, 2 or 3 quarters are skipped. Some times a quarter is skipped but the subsequent quarter is duplicated. For example, stock is GC. For quarter ended 2013/09 and 2013/06 the same data is duplicated all the way down the column. If I look at the quarterly indicator starting with 2014/03 I see 1 4 3 3 1 4 3 2 1 4 3 2 1 ... In other words the second quarter was skipped and the third quarter was repeated twice.
Is this data that has been scraped directly from the site? It looks like the results saved after someone periodically scraped the site at irregular intervals.

I don't even see financial statements available for GC, so I'm not sure
what you're looking at.
However, I do recall complaints about the data in the past. I think one
complaint was that some of the quarterly numbers were YTD instead of for
the quarter. That is, YTD in one column, but quarterly in the next.
