Correct.......I meant to put in the original message that it was
return the value "NA".

An example and a description of "quit working" would have

I just tried it with ticker symbol MMM and got "N/A" returned.
Unfortunately, that's what Yahoo is sending. I'm assuming the
"N/A" is what you mean by "quit working"?

To be honest, I could not figure out how to make the RCHGetHTMLTable() solution work.

Maybe, I am not putting forth enough effort but I have spent a lot of time on this.

I'll try the RCHGetHTMLTable() solution again. But could use any guidance you have to offer.

Thanks, Kermit

What was wrong with the RCHGetHTMLTable() solution? That was quick and easy. Parsing that data out will be a mess.

Randy, I am still fighting how to get the correct results using the smfGetTagContent.

Using this =smfGetTagContent("http://getsplithistory.com/IBM","tr",0,"Split date","tr")

I get this returned in the cell

</tdead><tbody><tr class="2"><td>May 27, 1999</td><td class="bold"><span class="c-blue">2</span> : 1</td><td>116.00</td><td>236.25 <span class="f-11 c-light">(May 26)</span></td><td><span class="c-red">-1.80%</span></td><td class="a-right"><input type="text&quot; class="calculation";></td>

What I really want is to create a table from this data using the fields shown in larger text and bold.

I have been fighting this for a few weeks and I guess I am just to inept to understand how to do it.

If you can show me how to do the first TR I hope I can do the rest.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Take a look at:

SMF-Example-GetSplitHistory.xls

...in the "Requested Samples" folder of the FILES area.

WOW! That is exactly what I wanted. I truly appreciate your doing that.

You did that in the time it took me to reprint the documentation for the RCHGetHTMLTable function.

I was just rereading it. I still have trouble defining the arrays.

THANK YOU SO MUCH,

Kermit

Hi Randy,

I friend of mine did up a spreadsheet with the smf addin, but has loaded the XLA file in the C: drive directly. He wants me to add the addin there. I don't know if his XLA file is different from yours or not.

If I load his XLA file in its required location, in addition to yours where it's supposed to be and have both activated, will your spreadsheets still work?

Thanks,

Jim

EXCEL should just use the add-in listed first in the add-in manager, and
ignore the second.

So if you have workbooks that use the add-in in the second location, you
might end up with unresolved links that would need to be manually changed.
See the "Location Errors" item in the LINKS area of the group.

Thanks Randy.

Hopefully the XLA file is the same.

I am still having this same previous problem I mentioned last week of whenever I shut down my computer and restart and open Excel, then open a spreadsheet with the SMF addin, it tries to point to the appdata/roaming/addins folder again. I have to keep updating the link againback to the Program Files folder. I don't understand why I seem to be the only person having this problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

I thought the "reset" process I gave you before worked? Otherwise, I'm out
of ideas...sorry.
