Hello Randy, I have two spreadsheets using SMF functions. One to grab IBD data and another to get earnings dates. The earnings dates spreadsheet still works (it grabs data off the internet from zacks etc). The IBD spreadsheet no longer "does anything". It doesn't appear to go to the internet at all. Since the earnings dates spreadsheet still works, I don't think the problem is tied to changing from IE 9 to IE 11. Instead, it must have something to do with what IBD has done. But, not being sophisticated in either Excel VBA or Internet Explorer, I don't know what that could be. If IBD no longer supports IE 9, I don't know what they did that would prevent the old spreadsheet (which did work with IE 9) from continuing to work (especially since the earnings spreadsheets which worked with IE 9 continue to work with IE 11). I have attached the IBD spreadsheet I use if that gives you any clues? Thanks for your help (and this awesome tool of course!! Has saved me so much time!)
Best regards,
Jeff

The problem is that you're using the old URL for the Stock Checkup page.
It's no longer accessible just using a ticker symbol. That was changed some
time ago. I'm surprised it was still working recently. Now, you have to get
the URL from a search results page. See the current template from the web
site:

http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/#IBD

I just tried it, and it's still working for me.

Just as an example, for ticker symbol "MMM", your spreadsheet is trying to
get the data from:

http://www.investors.com/StockResearch/StockCheckup.aspx?symbol=MMM

...but the new URL would be:

http://research.investors.com/stockcheckup/nyse-three-m-company-mmm.htm

That's why ticker symbol alone no longer works -- they've added the
exchange and their version of the company name to the URL.

Hello Randy,
So I loaded the spreadsheet you provided the link to. It populates with data, but when I enable editing it attempts to update links and then stops working (meaning the data that was populated gets erased and it ceases to work). Not sure what is going on.
Thanks for any guidance you can offer,Jeff

Just use the smfFixLinks macro to update the links. I've had issues with
the "Update Links" process in EXCEL before, although I stopped using it in
EXCEL 2003.
