Re: [ExcelVBA] URL opens file but fails

Hello,

I am in the Trust Center

"Trusted Publishers" has only one entry and it has nothing to do with Excel or Microsoft, but has VeriSign Class 3 Code ..."

"Trusted Locations" are all part of my "C:\ ...." drive, but do have Excel mentioned in all of them.

"Add-ins" nothing is checked (3 choices), but do not seem applicable?

"ActiveX Settings" radio button "Prompt me before enabling ..." is checked AND "Safe mode (helps limit the control's ... ) is also checked.

"Macro Settings" radio button, Enable all macros ..." is checked and "Trust access to the VBA ... " is also checked.

Message Bar - "Show the message bar ..." is checked.

"Enternal Content" Radio button "Enable all ata Connections... " is checked (even though this is not recommended, but i am ok with this). And "Prompt user on automatic update ..." is checked.

"Privacy Options" Search microsoft .... internet" is checked and "Check Microsoft Office documents ... " is also checked

Conclusion: In the above i am not aware on anything that should be changed, but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks for your time and efforts, David

I wonder if it is your file block settings in file/options/trust centre settings

When you look at this remember if something is ticked under open, it means you cannot open it.  i.e. open is blocked.

Yes. I think the only place it will not work is from the code and like I said before it use to work. I am guessing that a parameter with in the computer has changed, but I do not know where to locate this and change it back.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

Hi David, I pasted it in my browser, and it opened.  Will it open for you if you paste it in your browser?

I am trying to get an Excel to open from the following:
ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink strURL

strURL = http://finance.google.com/finance/historical?histperiod=daily&q= CALM&startdate=Jan+1%2C+1975&enddate=1+27%2C+2010&output=csv

The above use to work just fine, but fails with "This operation has been cancelled ...... restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator"

I am not aware of any changes that i might have made to cause this.

Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.

Thanks, David
