Re: [ExcelVBA] Colored Cells on the fly

  Thanks for the reply.  I would prefer to do it in VBA.

What you describe sounds exactly like a job for conditional formatting.  Is there an added complication that makes you say this?

If not, then you just need conditional formatting with 5 rules, one for each person.  Select "Format only cells that contain" and change the "between" value to "equal to".  You'll be able to select all the relevant cells and set the conditional format for them all in one go.

Of course, you could also do it in VBA if you prefer, but that means that you'll always need to have macros enabled for the workbook.

Subject: [ExcelVBA] Colored Cells on the fly

I have a spreadsheet with three columns:  Date, Initials and Amount

There are 5 sales person's initials: JO, KB, LC, KG and Hse.

I would like for the cells with the initials in it to change to their respective cell colors when  a sale is made and the initials are typed in a cell.

JO=Red
KB=Purple
LC=Green
KG=Aqua
Hse=Orange

I need them to change on the fly if possible.  I didn't see that conditional formatting could do what I needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
