Hello Randy
I am working extracting some data for Indian stocks. I am trying
to extract 10 Yr P/E historical data for Indian stocks.
But I am unable to find the exact function and from which data
source to use?
Can you please let me know.
Thanks

I don't do anything with Indian stocks, so don't know of a source. Anyone
else?

Ok - yes copy / paste issue. Since the hyperlink is in there
("http"
a hyperlink and making it one. I've cleaned that up.
Back to the original issue "13862" not working on my machine - My
machine returns "3M CO" for both lines - does that tell you
anything for diagnostics?
--- In smf_addin@yahoogrou
I just cut and pasted what I see on the website, using my
browser. Both formulas worked fine. No links created.

It leaves me confused, since the first of those is the what is saved for
the element definition.
Usually that means an issue with the VBA EVAL() function, but that occurs
with older versions of EXCEL, which you say doesn't apply.

Thanks a lot, even making some different test, changing operating
systems, the language, etc., the problem persists. Strangely the
data retrieved from the site with RCHGetYahooHistor does not
match with http://finance.
where this inconsistency is coming from? Any further idea?
Is there anybody else having this problem?
Best regards,
RG

The add-in is just parsing the CSV file provided by the "Download
to Spreadsheet" link on this web page:
http://finance.

Though I still find it inconsistent, that when downloading the
Historical Prices for LAME4.SA <http://LAME4.
with this example) into a csv spreadsheet, this error does not
appear to happen for the data of the recent past (last few days
or weeks, which disappear with the excel smf_addin).
From which source does RCHGetYahooHistory actually retrieve the
data? Is there no way to simulate this retrieval in another way
to identify if the problem is on Yahoo side or somewhere else...
(black whole, NSA, etc.)?

I suppose the most logical place would be stepping through the VBA code
itself, seeing what the add-in is receiving and how it is interpreting it.
Otherwise, just looking at the download files the web page produces.
In the past, inconsistencies have typically been the result of not all
Yahoo servers not being updated. Then, the data returned would be dependent
on which server serviced the request. But, then, results are sporadically
wrong instead of consistently wrong.

Try this (you may need to register):
http://www.moneyworks4me.com/indianstocks/large-cap/fmcg/household-personal-products/godrej-consumer-prod/company-info#ten-year-xray-anchor-link
The 10-year PE and DPS data is at the bottom.

Thanks Gururaj. Thats excellent.
Do you know if we can extract PE data using the smf add-in from
moneyworks4you?
Thanks

I have derived huge benefit from this group, and from all of
Randy's hard work. In the spirit of giving something back, I
rebuilt the 10 year ADVfn model using GuruFocus data and uploaded
it.
It's got some issues, and there are some fields that are
inconsistent, so I've tried to fix them as best possible
(Revenues and Inventory wouldn't pull consistently so I calculate
the number, for example). I've coded the pulled data green and
the calculated data in black. I set it up so that for companies
with less than 10 years of data the first few rows show up
(mostly) blank. The presentation is a little funky and I'm sure
there are more errors to fix, so feel free to update and replace
it.
Hope this helps some of the folks that were inconvenienced.

Good morning Randy,
Just want to add my two cents to the Advfn data discussion.
I was able to bring FTR'S latest and historical financial data
into a spreadsheet from the new Advfn site with the smf-addin.
It's not as elegant and efficient as it was prior to the revamped
website but it worked with FTR.
For those who are interested in testing it out here's how you do
it:
1. Go to this Group files section
2. Open SmfGetTagContent
3. Download and open
SmfGetTagContent-
4. Paste the following url
(http://www.advfn.
ions-corp-mm-
<http://www.advfn.
ions-corp-mm-
the web page cell. Do this in all of the five sheets of the
spreadsheet. Data will start to appear.
5. Make a copy of "By Table Cell" sheet in the same spreadsheet
a)Paste the url address in 4 in cell C9
b)Keep cells c10:c14 blank
c)Paste
=IF($C$9="
"--"
d)Drag formula in C18 across columns(to 12) and rows (to 7)
f)Extending columns and formula from 12 (N17) to 90 (CN17) and
rows B25 (7) to 371 (B389) or so will give you all annual
financial statements for frontier communications.
g) For Quarterly data paste this
url:(http://www.advfn.
ications-corp-
m=Q
ions-corp-mm-
> in C9.
h) Be patient. It will take some time to populate the
spreadsheet.
Question: What does "mm" between "copr" and "FTR" stand for?
Hope this helps.
