Am I the only one who reads this forum every day.surely to learn more about
SMF.. But mostly to watch how a generous, consummate expert deals with a
barrage of sometimes simple; sometimes difficult questions.
Thanks Randy, you're an inspiration AND a fount of knowledge!

Nope.

Yep. Randy is peerless. No one I've seen even comes close to the
level of support Randy provides.
But, I wish he'd give his blessing to a multiplatform solution,
LibreOffice, say.

I second that (except, I don't read all but am still amazed by Randy's dedication - and apologize for flooding your inbox with yet another message)

To All,
I created the Altman-Piotroski worksheet. I've been messing with
closed-end funds and not individual stocks lately, so I didn't
notice. If/when I get the time, I'll see what I can do about
getting it in working condition. If you're into CEFs, I have a
sheet some might find useful. Give me some time to make it a bit
more user-friendly and to add explanations. It retrieves all data
from the 3 main CEF websites, CEF Connect, CEFA, and CEF Capital
Link.
Just a word about the grahaminvestor link above. I never trusted
it completely, finding that the numbers generated were too
generous, i.e., the Piotroski scores were generally too high. If
you subscribe to AAII, take a look at their Piotroski screen. It
spit out a few nice trades for me.

That's because it uses data from AdvFN, who has been tinkering
around with their data and web page processing over the past
month, so nothing from them is coming through at this point.

I put a fix into a new version of the sheet. Click on yellow cell
A6, and a dropdown menu lets you choose how many years of data
you'd like to see.

Thanks. After deleting years 2003 thru 2007 I had to change cell
C1 and C4 to 6 and it works great.

I have been using the Old School Spreadsheet for over a year and
have always kept up to date with all the latest work in process
changes you have issued. It had been a few weeks since I last
used the spreadsheet and noticed that I know longer was getting
and data transfers loaded. I saw your post concerning
smf-elements-
done before with other changes you have authored. I made sure
that EXCEL was not running when I went into the C:SMF folder to
install the new element file. I am using EXCEL-2003 and have not
had any problems before doing updates. Also if I click on
fulldisclosure.
would be great.

You can find the new element definition file in the "Works in
Progress" folder:
smf-elements-
You should replace that file in your add-in folder when EXCEL is
not up and running.

I get an error message when I try to use the RCHGetElementNumber
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Interesting. And frustrating. When I go to:
http://fulldisclosure.com
...I am indeed redirected to reuters.com. However, if I use:
http://fulldisclosure.com/company.asp?client=cb&ticker=MMM
...I am not. That is the URL used by element #1421, which is working here.
You can always check to see the definition loaded for a particular element
with:
=smfGetAParms(1421)
...which for me currently returns:
Earnings;Dividends -- Amount -- 1;
http://fulldisclosure.com/company.asp?client=cb&ticker=~~~~~;2;>Upcoming;>Dividends<;>Ex-Date;
;1;SPACER.GIF;0;0
But if element #1421 is not working for you with that definition, I'm not
sure what to tell you. If you use the full URL for MMM above, in your
browser, do you get to the desired page? Or are you redirected to
reuters.com?
